Although it was delayed by a few months, the 75th Emmy Awards had the stars shining in gold at the Peacock Theater at L.A. While Gabrielle Union herself has never won an Emmy award, she showed her love and support to her Hollywood co-stars. As Niecy Nash took the stage to accept her award, Dwyane Wade‘s wife was happy to hear the 52-year-old actress’s speech. Union later shared it with her fans, as it stood close to her own morals. A few years ago, Union joined in with the Emmy winner to spread awareness for a social cause.

After winning the award for ‘Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series’ for her performance in ‘Dahmer-Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’, Niecy Nash decided to recreate an iconic speech from Snoop Dogg as she thanked herself after acknowledging everyone else. She capped off her speech and said, “I accept this award on behalf of every Black and Brown woman who has gone unheard, yet overpoliced.” Gabrielle Union, who closely relates to this, shared the video on her Instagram and captioned it, “You already know.

Gabrielle Union posted another image that showcased five other actresses enjoying the moment with the Emmy in their hands. She captioned the post “PROUD“.

Quinta Brunson, who won ‘Best Actress in a Comedy Series’ for her role in ‘Abbott Elementary’, and Ayo Edebiri, who won ‘Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series’ for her role in ‘The Bear’, stood out in the image. Keke Palmer, who made history for being the first female game show host to win an award in 15 years, was also in the picture.

Union has shared the stage with many of them on countless occasions. So, seeing her friends win big on the grand stage would have definitely made her happy. While the ‘Bring It On’ actress has nothing but love for her friends, it is to be noted that Union has not had any nominations of her own this year.

In 2023, the Emmy Winner Niecy Nash signed ‘The Perfect Find’ to star alongside Gabrielle Union. The two have shared a long friendship and have even spread awareness for actresses of color.

Gabrielle Union dedicates her #WCW to inspire women

A few years ago, Gabrielle Union started to dedicate a weekly post on her Instagram account for her Woman Crush Wednesday series. Each Wednesday, she took the opportunity to celebrate and praise a remarkable woman. The inception of this series was fueled by Union’s desire to combat online trolls who are relentless in their efforts to tear people down. She said, “If I can’t use my social media to amplify, uplift, inspire one woman a week, I mean, I can’t call myself a feminist. I can’t call myself an advocate for women. I mean like, if I can’t do that once a week? That’s the bare minimum! To me, that’s the least I can do.”

In May 2017, on one such Wednesday, Dwyane’s wife, took to Facebook to put the spotlight on Niecy Nash, who fights for black women. Union wrote, “My #WCW is the kind of woman that lights up every room she walks in with her beauty… She is all that is right in Hollywood and I am lucky to know her. Say hello Niecy Nash.” She mentioned how a 5-year-old Nash was awestruck by singer Lola Falana.

She continued, “At the age of 5, Neicy Nash saw the most beautiful woman she had ever seen on tv. She said ‘Grandma who is that?’ Her grandmother answered ‘Baby that’s Lola Falana!’ Nash says that moment stamped her destiny on the canvas of her imagination ‘I want to be Black and fabulous on TV! She’s been on a mission ever since.” The two hollywoods icons have been supporting the black and LGBTQIA community for a long time now.

Recently,Union and Wade stepped up and took the opportunity to raise awareness on issues faced by their daughter and other Black trans people. While accepting the President’s Award at the 2023 NAACP Image Awards last year, Dwyane Wade addressed his daughter who came out as a transgender, he said, “Zaya, as your father, all I’ve wanted to do was get it right… I admire how you handle the ignorance in our world … Thank you for showing me that there’s more than one way to communicate effectively… As your father, my job is not to create a version of myself or direct your future. My role is to be a facilitator to your hopes, your wishes and your dreams.”
