“Everybody Want to Be the King”: Reigniting 3YO Last Dance Feud, NBA Veteran Reaffirms Michael Jordan Stance

Have you seen the “Last Dance” Netflix docuseries? If you haven’t yet, you should because that docuseries sparked one of the most heated NBA debates of all time. The Netflix docuseries covered the Chicago Bulls‘ iconic NBA championship runs in the 1990s. After the release of the “Last Dance” docuseries in 2020, many NBA fans stood divided as one-half of the famous Chicago Bulls duo expressed their disappointment over his portrayal in the docuseries.

In a recent interview, NBA Hall of Famer defends Michael Jordan against his former teammates ‘arrogant’ claim.

NBA Hall of Famer confused by Scottie Pippen’s ‘arrogant’ claim

Many considered NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins a fierce competitor, including the great Michael Jordan. After getting drafted into the NBA in 1982 he got the opportunity to many games against the Chicago Bulls legend during his NBA career. Dominique Wilkins has the most points in a game versus Michael Jordan, with 57 points on December 10, 1986. He even beat MJ in the finals of NBA’s Slam Dunk contest in 1985.

In a recent interview, 63-year-old Dominique Wilkins expresses his disappointment over the Jordan-Pippen beef. The interviewer asked Dominique Wilkins, “After the release of the series, Scottie Pippen has been going at Jordan saying he (Jordan) didn’t win any rings until Scottie showed up. When you see Scottie saying stuff like that, what are you saying?“.

Dominique Wilkins responded, “Anybody who knows basketball knows, you don’t win those rings without Jordan.

 

 

The interviewer then brought up the Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen controversy to which Dominique Wilkins responded, “You know sometimes, everybody want to be the king and everybody can’t, you know.“. He finally concluded, “It really doesn’t make any sense. You’re talking about something from 20-30 years ago, you know. Come on, you’ve got to let go of that stuff. What are you going to really accomplish?“.

The Iconic Chicago Bulls’ duo’s beef

The Jordan-Pippen NBA duo is arguably the most lethal and efficient player duo of all time. Sharing 6 NBA Championship rings between them, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen never lost one NBA finals. They are widely considered NBA royalty and were friends for a long time until the release of the Netflix docuseries “The Last Dance” in 2020.

With the world coping with the devastating impact of COVID-19, the Netflix docuseries “The Last Dance” became a global commercial hit. However, Scottie Pippen was not happy with his portrayal in the docuseries as he felt like he wasn’t given the credit he deserved for his contribution to the Chicago Bulls franchise.

As the entire NBA community is sad to see the fallout of the famous NBA duo and long-time friends, one can only agree with NBA Hall of Famer’s advice to both the Chicago Bulls legends of letting go.
