Doc Rivers is one of the, if not the, worst game 7 coaches in the league’s history, having lost 10 game 7’s. Take out his game 7 curse and Rivers makes a solid case for himself as one of the best coaches in the game. However, he fumbled when the stakes were at their highest and the team needed a proper game plan to go through.

Despite that, ex-Los Angeles Lakers star Kwame Brown believes that Rivers has the potential to lead a team. However, in his quest to give Rivers his deserved props, Brown ended up tearing down Chris Paul.

During his recent appearance on the Broken Play podcast, Brown talked about why Rivers deserves a spot on the best coaches list and what makes CP3 unreliable. He said, “Doc Rivers, his resume is what it is. I mean he is one of the most winning coaches in the league. We praise a lot of these other coaches but they don’t have the Doc Rivers resume. He only won one championship but if we’re going to praise D’Antoni, then how we can’t praise Doc Rivers.” After that, Brown went to Chris Paul to highlight what makes him an unreliable player.

He said, “Every year[he got hurt], you can’t blame that on the coach. He did put these stallions out there and build them up, but he get hurt. He is the most unreliable superstar you’ve ever seen. That’s no offense, he’s a great player but he don’t play in the playoffs.” In a career spanning over 19 years, Paul has not yet won a single championship. Often regarded as one of the best point guards of all time, he has made 12 NBA All-Star appearances.

Doc Rivers is the All-Star coach for the Eastern Conference

Rivers was recently appointed as the coach for the East in the upcoming All-Star game. However, this was met with a lot of backlash because it’s been only weeks since he arrived in Milwaukee. Now he is the coach of the Milwaukee Bucks and the All-Star honor that he has received is because of the ex-Bucks coach Adrian Griffin. The Bucks are currently 33-16 in the East, which puts them second on the list only behind the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics head coach wasn’t eligible for the All-Star coaching role because he held that position last season. So, Rivers got the job completely out of luck. However, he has said that he will give the ring and the coaching share to Griffin as he is the one who deserves it.
