With just less than 110 days remaining for the US Elections, Joe Biden stands down and won’t be seeking re-election. Previously, Charles Barkley, who has always been vocal about politics said, “I have nothing but admiration and respect for President Biden. But it’s time for him to pass the torch to a younger generation.” With the news now official, another former NBA veteran has shared his thoughts.

The recent presidential debate was held 3 weeks ago, and the CNN poll revealed a 67%-33% split in favor of Donald Trump. However now, President Biden confirmed that he was stepping aside with a press release through his social media handles. “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.

20+ years color commentator for the Suns and former player respected President Biden for his stance. Eddie A Johnson wrote, “Thank You President Biden for putting your country first and being Presidential to the end! I know you will finish your Presidency with class and respect for the democratic process!” This certainly becomes a crucial time for the Democratic party to choose a representative seeing that the election is less than 4 months away.

The Celtics legend Kendrick Perkins tweeted about a similar outlook toward elections. “God Bless America.” President Joe Biden will be addressing his decision later this week. However, when President Biden expressed his intention of re-election previously, one of the former NBA stars was not a fan of the presidential fight.

Charles Barkley’s opinion on Biden and Trump

Charles Barkley said, “He’s had a good life, he is one of the greatest people I’ve been fortunate to be around in my life.” However, he was very blunt with his words for Donald Trump. “I would never vote for someone who has that mentality,” regarding Trump.

Barkley has been harping on the point of passing the torch for about a year. In March this year, Chuck spoke to Chris Wallace in an episode of Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace? and when he was asked for his opinion on the race, “I don’t feel good about a rematch,” Barkley said. “Number one, I don’t think President Trump represents a statesman, civility, things like that. And I think President Biden is too old. I don’t feel really good about either one of them.”
