Luka Doncic or LeBron James? While James and Kyrie Irving won championship titles in 2016, Doncic couldn’t achieve one alongside his current teammate ‘Mr. Fourth Quarter’. In a conversation about the two, former NBA player Sebastian Telfair made a bold and saddening prediction about Doncic. Telfair believes that despite being 14 years younger than James, Doncic is more likely to lose his stamina before the Lakers star.

“I don’t think it’s going to be a decline in LeBron the way you guys are waiting for. I see Luka declining before LeBron,” Telfair said during his interview with DJ Vlad while highlighting the difference between Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers player James’ performance in the 4th quarter. He pointed out that while James is still energetic playing in the 4th quarter, the same can’t be said about Doncic.

He added, “LeBron is doing where it’s kind of like showing up every night but he’s still got the most energy in the fourth quarter. He’s still chasing down shots. He still, it’s a certain amount of energy that you got to have that goes back to Luka that I don’t think he have to be a better player than Kyrie.

‘King James’ is blessed with longevity. Despite being at the age of 39, James is dropping power performance averaging 25.7 points per game in the 2023-24 season. The thought of James’ declining energy might be common to many. However, Telfair seems to have a contradictory opinion.

The comment came after the host asked Telfair about who is a better player between Kyrie Irving and Doncic. In response, the retired NBA player named Irving better than Doncic overall. And his earlier comment seemed to be the reason behind this opinion as well.

Kyrie Irving or Luka Doncic?

When asked about it, Telfair believes that while Doncic does his role quite efficiently, Irving is a natural-born point guard. Last year, Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd was also asked a similar question on this. And while he appreciated both, the NBA Stars chose Irving over the 25-year-old Slovenian star.

Here is what he said during a post-game press conference. “When you have those two quarterbacks getting into the paint and being able to get to the rim — we would say that Luka is a great finisher, and we would say Kai is the best finisher in the league with either hand,” Kidd concluded.

James is all set to step into his 22nd year in the league while Doncic is too all set after the Mavericks were defeated by the Celtics. Do you think Telfair is right? Let us know in the comments section below.
