Caitlin Clark is getting used to breaking records every time she steps foot on the court. After leading the Indiana Fever to a comfortable victory over her rival Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky, Clark sent a message loud and clear. Fans are already buzzing about her Rookie of the Year prospects, but the rookie is setting her sights even higher—the MVP title. Among her most ardent supporters is former NBA player Rashad McCants, who never misses a chance to sing her praises.

Clark put on a show against Angel Reese and the Sky in a game that left everyone in awe. Rashad McCants, a long-time admirer of Clark, took to his official X account to celebrate her achievement. He shared Clark’s impressive stats and captioned the post: “We not gonna stop being great!!!!! This is just the beginning!!!!! Cc.”

Amid this MVP conversation, when asked how fun it is to be part of the competition of the Rookie of the Year race in the post-game press conference, she bluntly answered, “I think me and Angel would both give you the same answer. We don’t wake up and think about individual awards.”

Last night, Clark achieved a career-high 31 points along with 12 assists, and 4 rebounds, leading her team to a 100-81 win. She was incredibly efficient, shooting 8-of-14 from the field and 5-of-9 from beyond the arc—all in just 32 minutes. So, why is this performance record-setting?

With these stellar numbers, Clark surpassed Ticha Penicheiro for the most games with 10 or more assists by a rookie in WNBA history, achieving this milestone in nine games. Additionally, she became the first player in WNBA history to record 23-plus points and 12-plus assists in a single game. She also leads the league in double-doubles for guards.

Interestingly, another NBA icon joined in the chorus of praise. After the game, 20× NBA All-Star LeBron James echoed McCants’ enthusiasm, posting on X: “CAITLIN CLARK!!!!! HI HATERS.” Yet, it’s McCants who continues to lead the charge in hyping Clark’s MVP candidacy.

Rashad McCants hyping Caitlin Clark for MVP race

Rashad McCants has been backing Caitlin Clark since day one, especially after she was selected #1 in the 2024 WNBA Draft. But things got even more interesting last month when McCants didn’t just say Clark had Rookie of the Year locked up—he boldly predicted she could take home MVP as a rookie, too.

On Gilbert Arenas’ podcast, McCants couldn’t help but point out Clark’s trailblazing path in the league. “She’s like, no, I’m going to chase that MVP because ain’t nobody fix it for me,” McCants said, emphasizing Clark’s impact. He added, “She’s broken records already, bro. already… What are y’all talking about?… you discrediting her? She has changed the game. That alone as a rookie!”

Interestingly, ESPN sports analyst Gary Striewski shares McCants’ viewpoint. On the Elle Duncan Show, Striewski didn’t hold back, saying, “I’m done talking about the Rookie of the Year. She should also be in the MVP conversation. I know it’s going to be A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart. It’s a loaded crop of players. But I don’t think you can make an argument as to why she shouldn’t be in the conversation.”

Yet, McCants remains unfazed by the competition, believing nothing can stop Clark’s MVP momentum. For him, it’s simple: Caitlin Clark is the MVP, and he’s not backing down from that claim anytime soon.
