Two college QBs predicted for new heights at the NFL 2025 draft ended up having two distinct realities. Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, many had them as top 5 picks, and the former turned out to be the overall No. 1 pick by the Titans. However, for the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, the entire first round did not produce the desired result. Many have criticized the teams and their approach to the Colorado quarterback, who shattered school records. From President Trump to NBA legends Dwyane Wade and Eddie A. Johnson, the decision was baffling.

POTUS on X called the teams “stupid” for passing up the opportunity. “What is wrong with NFL owner, are they STUPID? Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart!” Despite the snub, President Trump predicted “greatness” for the 23-year-old. “Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness. He should be ‘picked’ IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!

The reason for teams not drafting Shedeur Sanders reportedly was because of his apparent ‘Attitude issues’. That has been the narrative, thanks to anonymous sources who didn’t like how Shedeur behaved in his Combine interviews. There were three clear opportunities for Deion Sanders’ son on the first day. At first, it was predicted the Giants would take him with the No. 3 pick, but they selected Abdul Carter. Then Saints at No. 9 pick used it for a non-QB position. There was still hope with the Steelers and their No. 21 pick, but Sanders suffered the same result.

But his ‘braggadocio’ is not to be blamed for the outcome, as per Eddie A. Johnson. “Exactly. This seems to be a bunch of people getting into a room and secretly Deciding to do this. This kid will be great regardless. Just watch!” The Suns legend added to X and retweeted the thought from a FOX Sports reporter, who called the false media narrative.

Joel Klatt frustratingly said, “Shedeur represents everything that I dislike about the NFL Draft and it’s only one thing – and it’s narratives. And it’s narratives built up that are lazy and quite frankly, trash…put your name on it.” During the rant, Klatt called out the ‘anonymous sources’ hiding behind their opinion. Similarly, even Dwyane Wade was not happy with the entire narrative building around Shedeur Sanders.

The 3x NBA champion was also a first-round draft pick. In fact, his career was all about comparing him to LeBron James at every stage. So, D-Wade understands the media narratives better than anybody. “A lot of that flak has been whatever people perceived as his personality trait to his talent. They’ve been trying to mix them in together [but] it’s separate.” Apart from this, Dwyane Wade also echoed that personality traits make Shedeur Sanders who he really is.

“But as a fan I don’t like the way they’re trying to say that he’s too cocky, he’s too this, he’s too arrogant. He’s too all-these-things. Because he’s going to hit you with this, and he’s going to tell you, ‘If you don’t want your organization to be changed around, don’t draft me!'” If there are any doubts about personality traits hindering his professional career, well, Deion Sanders disagreed about his son, Shedeur Sanders.

Prime Time simply stated, “I don’t know what they expect from my kids… They’re daddy’s sons, man.” Even though no first-round teams selected him, it is not directly related to his quality on the field.

Shedeur Sanders’ first-round slide in the 2025 NFL draft stands as a stark illustration of the complexities that underpin talent evaluation in professional sports. While his on-field achievements at Colorado spoke volumes, the narrative surrounding his personality, fueled by anonymous sources, seemingly overshadowed his potential in the eyes of numerous NFL franchises.

Ultimately, whether this first-round snub serves as a motivating force for Sanders or a lasting indictment of the draft process remains to be seen. The football world will undoubtedly be watching closely to see if his talent ultimately transcends the pre-draft narratives and validates the faith of those who believe in his potential for greatness.
