There are two prime candidates for LeBron James‘ throne. Thankfully for the King, they are both his sons, Bronny and Bryce. With such great expectations, the 4x NBA champion made sure that his children had all the support. Including 3x All-Star Gilbert Arenas. LeBron enlisted Agent Zero to scout and train his kids a few years. The former Washington Wizards star shared his intel on the recent episode of ‘Podcast P’ with Paul George.

While most people see the 19-year-old Bronny as the certain heir to LeBron’s legacy, Arenas begs to differ. He has reached this conclusion having seen both the brothers work it out on the court and believes that Bryce is a real show stealer.

Gilbert Arenas puts Bryce James over Bronny in one key category
Undeniably, the genes are working their charm as the two boys from the James household are both hot national prospects. As Bronny James is the next in line for the big leap, he is being monitored closely, be it by media houses, fans, or the NBA scouts. However, Arenas has reached the conclusion that Bryce is slightly better than his elder brother in one significant way. During his recent appearance on the ‘Podcast P’ with Paul George, the former NBA guard talked about his time working out with the two boys.

The 3x NBA All-Star worked out with and trained Bronny when he was in eighth grade, he added. Gilbert Arenas said, “I used to work them both out and, you know, Bryce was too young for my workouts.” But that didn’t stop Bryce James from surprising Agent Zero.

Arenas added, “I had to be careful with him[Bryce] and um, very intelligent too. We’ll do like pick and roll splits, and I’m like I’mma just mix it up. No matter what we did to Bryce, he read it perfect. Every single time. “ Arenas was very impressed by the knowledge and understanding of basics that Bryce displayed even at such a young age. “He probably might be the smartest one out of them,” added the former Washington Wizard.

When Bronny was 14, LeBron James called upon Gilbert Arenas to help mentor his son. After working out and practicing with the teenager though, Arenas knew that the King had nothing to worry about.

“Y’all probably got the same speed. Probably got the same passing skills. IQ damn near the same. At this age, he probably jumps a little bit higher. Probably a little bit stronger. He can definitely shoot better and dribble better than you,” Gilbert Arenas recalled telling LeBron.
Of course, it’s been nearly 5 years since his scouting. Bronny is now playing for the USC Trojans averaging 5.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in about 17 minutes of gameplay. Bryce James is now following in Bronny’s footsteps at Sierra Canyon High School.

When asked if he had seen Bryce’s game recently, Arenas said that he hadn’t. However, he understands that the 16-year-old has the hype behind his name and is destined for bigger things in the future. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter who is more skilled between the two brothers, as they are both already on their way to greatness.
