There have been a lot of debates around Nikola Jokic‘s fitness. Although he has been consistent with his results, self-proclaimed experts have called out the Serbian time and again over his weight. Though he is not the only one being criticized for his weight, for Jokic, the argument does seem forced as his output is at par with the best.

Soon after his last season’s dominance, Jokic went back and was in the partying zone for months. Throughout this offseason, we saw several clips of him just drinking, dancing, and having a great time. Recently, an NBA veteran came out in support of the Denver Nuggets star. The 64-year-old slammed the negative noise concerning Jokic, and the preconceived notion regarding his image.

Nikola Jokic slander silenced by NBA veteran

This has been a constant argument against the giants of the league. They are often put under scrutiny for being overweight, even after they provide results for their teams. Apart from Jokic, Luka Doncic, and Zion Williamson are also constantly questioned by fans and pundits alike. While the argument makes sense for some athletes, Jokic surely doesn’t fit in that bracket simply going by the numbers he has been putting out.

Additionally, Jokic is the defending champion who was also dubbed the Finals MVP last season. So making arguments against Jokic is going to be a tough task. After the recent wave of Jokic slander on the internet, NBA veteran Eddie Johnson came out in support of the 28-year-old. Johnson said “He is not Fat and he is not Slow and how would you know when you have never been in an NBA locker room to see him. He has exceptional footwork and a quick first step to boot. Do better!”?

The Denver Nuggets season so far

When the Nuggets took center stage against the LA Lakers on the season opener, it seemed like they were picking up this season where they left it last time around. Till now, the Denver franchise has played seven games, out of the seven, they have won six games. The only L they’ve taken so far this season was against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

With their star player continuing in his glorious form, the “party animal” tag is just proving to be pointless as of now.
