The Marquette Golden Eagles snatched a stunning victory 73-59 against their arch-rivals. It was a moment of success for the NBA champion Dwyane Wade as well who led the team at the Final Four in 2003. After 20 years, the legend has returned to Marquette to witness their game. Despite being the best player, he could not lead Marquette to victory back in 2003. Overwhelmed with emotion after the team’s recent victory, the legend turned towards the camera to commend their collective effort.

Dwyane Wade’s touching message to the Marquette?s head coach

Shaka Smart is a former college basketball player and currently works as a head coach for Marquette University?s basketball team. Praising Smart, Wade noted, ?Shaka understands that you know a lot of credit goes to him and his coaching staff because they trying to build a team a family.? He also discussed the challenges of navigating complex rules while simultaneously fostering a familial connection with the team members. He added, ?And it’s not as easy nowadays the rules are a little different so it makes it a little complicated to reach for that all for everybody to play for each other, but he has built a culture here and you see these guys out here really giving their all for each other so it’s great.?

During his tenure as head coach spanning 14 seasons at Virginia Commonwealth (2009-15), Texas (2015-21), and Marquette (2021-pres.), Smart led these programs to a combined 10 appearances in the NCAA Tournament. He also led the VCU from the First Four to the Final Four in 2011.

It was not only the three-time champion; the team was also excited to see the legend return to the court.

With Wade’s presence at the game this year, the team was quite confident about their performance. The basketball team?s official X page openly challenged the Kansas Jayhawks to bring their best.?
