After dropping out of high school, Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones has become one of the biggest success stories in the music industry. Releasing 17 albums under his name starting from 1994, this hip-hop legend has one Grammy to his name. Recently celebrating his 50th birthday, the rapper uploaded an image on social media to display the success he had by comparing himself to Michael Jordan.

Consistently releasing albums didn’t give him the recognition he deserved in the mainstream media. But his last 4 albums are considered some of his best work ever.

Rapper celebrates his dominant run for years like Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan was on top of the world in the 1990s. He was the most successful basketball player during that time, winning six championships with the Chicago Bulls. This led to him taking the iconic picture while displaying all his championship rings.

The Illmatic album rapper famously known as Nas recently took to Instagram to recreate the iconic MJ photo.

While uploading various images of the birthday party, Nas also uploaded a rather unexpected image that may imply that he is the greatest to ever rhyme on a microphone. The $70 million rapper recreated the image of the iconic Michael Jordan 6 championship ring photo.

The image was a carbon copy of His Airness smiling at the camera with his six Chicago Bulls rings.

The image represents the success Nas has had in the music industry. Nas had the image edited to have the same amount rings on his fingers. The only difference in the image was that Jordan was looking straight at the camera and Nas was looking away.

He did not put a caption on the image and left it all up to the viewer’s interpretation.

Apart from being in GOAT contention, there are several similarities in the careers of Nas and MJ.

Michael Jordan retired from the league in 1993 following his third championship win with the Bulls. He came back two years later to remind the people that he was still on top. Similarly, Nas also took a small break from releasing his own studio albums.

This was after 2012, after his public feud with rapper Jay-Z. He came back in 2017 with a new album.

But his first mainstream award came in the form of his first series of ‘Kings Disease’. 25 years after his sophomore release, Nas bagged his first Grammy win with this release. He then went on to release ‘Kings Disease II’ and later released ‘Magic’, ‘Kings Disease III’ and ‘Magic II’.
