Dwyane Wade retired where he started his career. In 2018, he signed with the Miami Heat to finish off his last season in the NBA. This also meant that he was able to share the floor with his ‘brother’ Udonis Haslem. But along with their play on the court, they joined hands off the court to start their own business.

They hoped to satisfy all their fans in Miami, and they did it successfully for years. But as all good things come to an end, Wade and Haslem had to end their 4-year partnership because of unforeseen circumstances.

Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem’s lost partnership

In 2018, Wade and Haslem partnered together to open a franchise of “800 Degrees Woodfired Kitchen” in Aventura. Haslem joined the Heat one year before Wade and the two had known each other for decades and that’s why they started a business together. But in 2022, following the pandemic, Wade and Haslem decided to shut down the restaurant for good.

The restaurant was located at the Aventura Shopping Center. Everything went smoothly for four years, and there were even talks of opening a second franchise in South Florida.

On the company website, it was revealed that the restaurant is being closed because of labor shortages and supply chain issues. Haslem and Dwyane Wade also incorporated their own twist into the restaurant. They served the UD?s 800? Woodfire Wings and the DWade?s 800? Sliders. Wade and Haslem were co-owners of the franchise. But even though this is closed, Wade remains a partner at 800?.

The brothers gave a statement about the unfortunate news but ended it with a positive note, saying that they had more things ready for the fans: Wade and Haslem co-founded ‘Forty-Three’, an investment company. Forty-Three because it’s Haslem’s (40) and Wade’s (3) jersey numbers combined.

Wade is making better decisions now

During his playing career, Dwyane Wade earned almost $200 million. His lifetime deal with Li-Ning, and various other endorsements and businesses off the court in his name, have also helped to elevate his net worth. His recent purchase of a minority stake in the Utah Jazz is paying great dividends, as the team’s net worth is already up by 28.5% after two years of owning the team. He also owns a minority stake in the Chicago Sky.

Wade and Haslem are still working together. They have also started two ghost restaurants in Miami with Forty-Three in 2021. They are selling a great combo with the names of the two legends attached: DWade Burgers and UD Wings.
