Gabrielle Union Relives 23 Years Old Memory Giving 21 Million Fans Glimpse of Her High School

Gabrielle Union recently gave her fans a glimpse of 1991. The acclaimed actor re-shared a picture from her senior ball. The original post, made by Complex features some of the biggest stars in the country with pictures from their prom. The list also features the Lakers legends Magic Johnson and the late, great Kobe Bryant.

This was like a time capsule, seeing some of the country’s most loved celebrities from way back in the day. The post included pictures of Snoop Dogg, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, and the late, great Tupac Shakur as well. A fan of Union was surprised that she looks exactly like she did back in 1991. She wrote, “Gabrielle union looks the saaaammmmeeeee she has not aged a day.”

Although this was a good throwback and the fans got to see their favorite stars before they catapulted into the world of stardom, most fans wondered who their dates were. One fan said, “Now I wanna who their dates were, and where are they now? 🤣🤦🏾‍♂️” Among the mentioned celebrities, only Kobe’s date was recognizable to most of the fans. After all, the Black Mamba took Brandy Norwood to prom, and there’s a very interesting story behind how that became a reality for the 17-year-old Kobe.

How Kobe Bryant convinced Brandy to go to prom with him

Kobe first met Brandy at the Essence Awards at the MSG in April of that year. Although he was a hair away from entering the big league, Kobe had already secured a $2 million deal with Adidas. So, he had the momentum going on for him. After he met Brandy at the award, he went home to tell his mother, “I met such a nice, beautiful, intelligent, sweet person,” and that he would take her to prom. Kobe’s wish came true as the singer agreed to go with him.

When she was asked about why she decided to go with the undrafted basketball player, Brandy had a very heartfelt answer. She said, “I thought he was cute. I read about him after I met him. And then I saw he was going somewhere in life, and I thought I would love to go to the prom with him.” The two made headlines with their appearance together and for some time, they were the IT couple in Hollywood. However, it was Vanessa Bryant who was destined to be with the LA Lakers legend.
