Out of the 180+ custom couture looks unveiled at the Met Gala 2025, only a handful earned true gasps. And Gabrielle Union’s jewel-accented ensemble led the pack. At 52, Union joined a record-breaking cohort of attendees embracing the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme, yet her necklace was the lone piece that eclipsed this year’s dramatic headgear trend. In a sea of bespoke gowns and tailored suits, her choice of Tiffany & Co. became the defining statistic of the night.
Gabrielle Union is a Tiffany & Co. girl! She often dons some of the brand’s most eye-catching jewels, including at the Oscars and other major events. At the 2025 Oscars, Union dazzled in a Tiffany leaf‑motif necklace valued at $7.3 million, emphasizing her minimalist‑glam lean. What made it special? Wade matched her, selecting Tiffany & Co. himself.
The two matched again, wearing Prada outfits and Tiffany & Co. jewelry for the 2025 Met Gala. Well, the show-stealer was Union’s Tiffany Céleste Ray of Light necklace from Tiffany & Co. Blue Book 2024 collection. This collection is crafted drawing inspiration from a vintage Jean Schlumberger brooch.

Designers invested 9,500 painstaking hours crafting her 2024 Michael Kors gown. Speaking of this year, artisans spent 1,379 hours hand‑crafting the Ray of Light necklace.
This scintillating piece features a striking triangle-cut pink spinel of more than 4 carats, a vivid triangle-cut red spinel over 3 carats, 17 pear-shaped red spinels totaling more than 44 carats, and an impressive 775 round brilliant diamonds, nearly 80 carats in total, that give off a dazzling brilliance like sun rays. The necklace was also likely worn by Anya Taylor-Joy at the brand’s event celebrating the collection.

Union wore the necklace with a black gown featuring a white train connected at the hips. Keeping in line with the event’s theme, the couple also aligned in spirit.

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane emphasizes the theme of the 2025 Met Gala
It’s a big night for the power couple, and they added bling to their outfits to show it. However, like every year, this night too has a special meaning, and it lies in its theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Speaking of storytelling and meaning, the actress highlighted some iconic designers, such as Ann Lowe, and her work.
“This is just an homage to all of the tailor and seamstresses and designers whose names we don’t know I mean we all know Ann Lowe right because of the work that she did with Jackie O but I’m here to talk about Ann Lowe and the work that she did with Pearl Bailey and Dorothy Dandridge and Lena Horne and all of the black stars,” Union said. The Miami Heat legend also shared his take on the theme, as well as his thoughts on the event celebrating and placing focus on men’s fashion.
With her mermaid-inspired Michael Kors dress from last year, the Riff Raff actress impressed her 6-year-old daughter, Kaavia, who gave her approval. Union even added that she wants to preserve some of her dresses so her daughter could wear it if she wishes to one day.

Last year’s Met Gala dress was one such example. “So I have a storage that’s just full of things that I’m like, oh, I want to be able to tell this story or how I felt wearing this. I was also in the museum, and then I realized maybe I don’t have to display it in my home, but I can put it in a temperature-controlled space that preserves the material and the memories. So even if [Kaavia] never wants to wear any of it, she will have this little bit of her mom and the stories that go with it,” she said.
This year’s Prada gown is equally special. Will she be saving it for Kaavia?
