Gilbert Arenas is not the one to play with. The former Washington Wizards guard has been a menace on the podcasts, criticizing current NBA players left and right without any hesitation. The latest to fall prey to his wrath were the Los Angeles Lakers and especially their three-point shooters. In a podcast episode with NFL legend Shannon Sharpe, Arenas violated the Lakers with an open challenge to them. Well, it’s pretty evident that the challenge was to Taurean Prince and Cam Reddish from the LA unit.

A heated Arenas shared, “There’s no way in a game where I’m playing on the court where he[Prince] has to take thirteen threes. Hell no! Youda been subbed out. ‘Aw nah, get this motherf****** out of here coach. Ray Allen didn’t shoot these many threes. You are not Steph or Klay, right? Like KD, don’t even shoot these type of threes.” Arenas warned, “You better be sitting in the practice facility or the gym shooting thousands of shots”.

Oh, and here comes the warning from Arenas, “I would bet any type of money, if we shoot a 100 threes right now, I would blow them out… I’ll shoot one-handed against them… You gonna have to be a real shooter for me to put both my hands on the ball.” Well, that was pretty disrespectful!

Are the LA shooters a threat to LeBron James?

Shooting from the corner has been one of the biggest concerns for the Lakers. LeBron James is best known for finding open looks, but when it is someone in the corner, it sadly turns into a failed play for the LA unit. No one in the Lakers shot more than 37% from the corners, while every other team in the NBA has at least one player shooting 40%. Cam Reddish, who mostly takes the corner spot, is shooting a poor 30% outside the line this season.

At the same time, D’Angelo Russell has been a lot volatile too. The veteran shooter was recently benched as he continues to shoot a low of 38% from the three-point line. The Lakers’ strength is defense, and that has helped them maintain a decent record so far. King James is dropping MVP numbers in his 21st season, yet the shooting is not favorable for them to win games of late.
