Vanessa Bryant’s heart dances with bittersweet affection as she cherishes the radiant spirit of her beloved late daughter, Gianna “Gigi” Bryant. Back in 2020, basketball icon Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter were traveling in a helicopter heading toward a kids’ basketball game at Mamba Sports Academy.

Little did they know that this would be their last ride. Within a couple of minutes, the helicopter crashed into a hillside in the northwest of Los Angeles, leaving no survivors. Since then, Vanessa has been living every moment embracing the memories of her beloved family. Today, as her late daughter Gianna would have turned 18, she took to her official Instagram account and posted a glimpse of her daughter.

Alongside the video, she penned, “Happy birthday to my gorgeous girl, Gigi! I love you. I miss you. I’m so proud of you. 2024 was your year.” Not only this, but she also released a new patterned design featuring black butterflies on a white background and a heart-shaped pendant with the “Mambacita” logo. Moving on, she continued to add, “You would’ve been graduating high school and choosing which college to go to. (I would’ve been trying my hardest to convince you to stay close to home).”

“I’m proud of the change in sports you and daddy worked so hard on. You continue to motivate me and inspire young women and girls daily. I love you always, Mommy,” she added, appreciating her daughter. Within hours of posting, the message garnered attention from people across the globe.

Celebrities join in honouring Gigi

Alongside the spectators, celebrities too couldn’t resist themselves from diving into the conversation. Many of Bryants’ relatives and friends shared wishes with Gigi Bryant. While Viola Davis wrote, “Beautiful!! Happy Birthday Gigi“, Rachel Zoe penned, “Happy Birthday angel Gigi and to beautiful mommy Vanessa”.
