How will the Los Angeles Lakers improve? With most of the big-name free agents off the market, the purple & gold are yet to add more firepower to their roster. However, they don’t need to fear as Gilbert Arenas and his team seem to have one name that will solve their problems. The Lakers are in need of a point guard. After Trae Young, another free agent’s name was brought up by former NBA players. But who are they referring to?

The former Orlando Magic star is a free agent and is still available for the Lakers. The 26-year-old was selected as the first pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2017 and joined the Magic in 2019. His scoring and defensive abilities could make for a great addition to the team as mentioned by the former NBA stars on the podcast.

Back in the 2023-24 season, Fultz showed his skills after averaging 7.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while playing 21.2 minutes across 43 games. Fultz might be able to complement LeBron James and the roster well. While the Lakers are looking for a point guard, they added two guards in the form of Dalton Knecht and Bronny James.

Bronny James and Dalton Knecht to add firepower to the Lakers?

The Lakers acquired Dalton Knecht as 17th overall in the NBA 2024 draft. While many expected the 6 foot 6 player to be drafted by the Charlotte Hornets as the 6th overall, he somehow fell out of the lottery picks and straight into the Lakers’ hands.

The 23-year-old was one of the top shooters in the NBA draft this year. He would be a great offensive weapon for the Lakers while playing alongside James, but then again, it’s the defense that the Lakers need most.

Next up is Bronny James. The team acquired young James as the 55th pick in the second round. While there are doubts on whether the 19-year-old is ready to play in the G League, Rob Pelinka and Lakers Head Coach JJ Redick already have a development plan set for Bronny.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst previously mentioned that Atlanta Hawks’ Young might also be a perfect fit. Now, as pointed out by Gilbert Arenas and the crew before, Fultz has a chance to thrive next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis while contributing to the team. But that will depend on what the Los Angeles Lakers decide.
