A week of debacle ends for Gilbert Arenas and his family. It was last Thursday, before 5:00 in the morning, when Alijah Arenas lost control of his Cybertruck, which rammed into a fire hydrant and a tree. Thankfully, bystanders quickly came to the 18-year-old’s rescue to pull him from the wreckage. The car was already caught in fire, which is why the son of the NBA star had to be put into an induced coma as part of the protocol. But as the father resumed his podcasting duties, the son returned home.

Agent Zero took to X to share his emotions after the horrific crash and thanked the onlookers first. “I want to thank Jose, Bryant, and Robert for saving Alijah — he can’t wait to meet you guys. Truly grateful to everyone for the prayers, love, and support during his healing. Much love.” Throughout this ordeal for the USC commit star, the family members continued to ask for support through prayers. The most shocking update during this time for the community was the induced coma situation.

But that was just standard protocol. The real reason behind Alijah Arenas’ induced coma was smoke inhalation from the fire caused by the accident. Gilbert Arenas later shed light on the situation via social media, adding a bittersweet touch by sharing a quirky memory of his son. “Funny enough, Alijah told his boys way back: ‘If I’m ever in a coma, don’t bring flowers. Bust in rapping I might swerve, bend that corner, woah by Gelo like it’s the national anthem.’”

Referencing the viral track Tweakers, Alijah made it clear—no flowers. Yet in the return-home video, you can spot the family gently ignoring that wish, with flowers visible in the background. Gilbert’s final message struck the perfect balance between relief and reflection as he moved past the emotional toll of the ordeal with his signature candor and humor.

Gilbert Arenas was pretty much silent throughout the last week. In fact, it was his close associate who gave us updates about the USC commit’s recovery. Not just them, Melli Moncao, the wife of the ex-Wizards star, took to Instagram story to update about the situation. She first added, “Thank you for all THE LOVE 🫶🏾 & THE PRAYERS the baby is doing good.” The photo was of her and Alijah, where both of them were seen smiling. In another story, she added, “I just know the comeback About to be 🗣️CRAAAAZY.”

This was the earlier photo of Gilbert Arenas watching proudly from the sidelines as his son Alijah took the court. Thankfully, despite the horror of the crash, Alijah didn’t suffer any broken bones. In fact, he’s seen walking on his own in the return-home video. But while the physical damage may seem minimal, the severity of the accident shouldn’t be downplayed—especially as the 18-year-old gears up for a fresh chapter with USC.
