A mastermind trickster or a wise NBA player with astute finance management skills? Gilbert Arenas recently opened up about the odd and bizarre plans he took to get back his $400k diamond ring from the mother of his children. Since the beginning, the NBA player has been candid about the controversy over the ring he gifted to his ex-girlfriend Laura Govan. After their break up, Arenas’ girlfriend claimed that the engagement ring that the retired NBA player gave her was a fake one.
In a recent interview with DJ Vlad, Agent Zero shared that just 8 days after proposing to Govan on her birthday, the two broke up. And he regretted giving her such an expensive ring to her. He spent around $395,000 for the ring. He revealed that, in an attempt to get back his ring, Arenas rekindled his relationship with her. And he swapped the original one with a fake ring worth $10,000 when he got the chance.
“When we broke up I’m like that was a f*****g waste of money I want my ring back so I was like how do I get my ring back fuck it I just got to get her back but when she comes back I’m ma have a fake one and I can switch it at any time and then that’s what I did had the fake one created then started hey missed you come on back and do all that stuff,” Arenas explained.

The former Golden State Warriors star and Govan started dating in 2002, and they have four children together. However, they went their separate ways in 2014.
How did Gilbert Arenas’ financial knowledge help him?
The retired NBA player shared that his ex-girlfriend found out about the fake ring after their breakup. It was after Arenas posted a picture of the original ring on social media. And soon the matter was taken to court. Govan demanded an undisclosed amount of money from the NBA player.
However, finally, it seems that Arenas’ plan worked out. He used the money saved from the engagement ring to pay for all the legal costs required in multiple court proceedings with his ex-girlfriend. The controversy was a huge matter on social media.

After getting engaged with British star Maya Jama in 2021, the two decided to part ways in 2022. As per sources close to the couple, Simmons was upset that Jama didn’t return the ring. The social media was divided into two with fans and NBA veterans such as Shaquille O’Neal expressing their opinions on it. What is your take on Arenas’ situation?
