The usually private Michael Jordan gave rare insight into his prime years and boosted Netflix’s sports library. The streaming giant has added more gripping sports documentaries since then, including Full Swing. Before one of the golfers made the dive into Netflix, he need the advice of a veteran.

Jordan is still dealing with the aftereffects of The Last Dance, from the praise to the fallout. Regardless, he was pretty encouraging to his golf buddy about pursuing the same.

Michael Jordan nudges golfer to join Netflix

Netflix’s Full Swing is the latest sports documentary that has viewers gripped. Among the golf stars featured in the series, Brooks Koepka’s story was the most anticipated. Koepka recently stepped away from the PGA Tour to join Greg Norman’s LIV Golf. Fans were hoping to see what spurred the switch.

With all those expectations, it was understandable that Koepka had hesitations about letting cameras follow him. That’s why he turned to the experienced one. The golf pro was on Jake Paul’s podcast, BS w/ Jake Paul, where he got candid about several themes. Paul, also a star in Netflix’s sports library, praised Koepka for his Netflix feature. That’s when the golfer admitted it was possible because of Michael Jordan.

I remember asking Michael Jordan about that Last Dance thing, because I wasn’t sure whether or not I wanted to do Netflix back when it was starting, So I asked him a question, he’s like, ‘It’s the best thing I ever did.’ Because you’ll never get those moments back and there’s nothing wrong with capturing the content too. Right? That’s another thing. You might be able to use that 20 years from now.

Regardless, he told Koepka that he loved the entire experience. His honest thoughts about the matter would be instrumental in the creation of Full Swing.

Jordan’s friendship with Brooks Koepka

It wouldn’t be difficult for Koepka to ever seek Jordan for advice. Apart from enjoying golf as much as basketball, MJ also is also the owner of a private golf club, The Grove XXIII in Jupiter, Florida. The LIV pro is a member of the club and even lost sorely to the six-time NBA champion.

He’s often turned to the sports superstar for advice even in tournaments.

Koepka was reluctant about Netflix as he’s aware that a lot of perspectives will be left out. But from what Jordan told him, the Black Cat saw it as an opportunity to have content that could be used decades in the future. After all, The Last Dance also used archived footage along with confessionals.
