Known for his impressive scoring acumen as well as his defensive abilities, Sir Charles is quite the versatile man. A loud and opinionated individual, Barkley never shies away from speaking his mind.

Finding an interest in golf post-retirement, Barkley has become quite attached to the sport. Improving quite significantly since his hip surgery, he has become quite the golfer. Taking part in Capital One’s 2022 rendition of ‘The Match’, the former Phoenix Suns player won the celebrity tournament. He featured alongside Tiger Woods‘ biggest rival, Phil Mickelson. Having once defended him against the jibes of the PGA TOUR, Chuck’s latest confession could be a stab in the back.

Are Charles Barkley’s comments a stab in the back for the golf legend?

In a recent interview with Golf Digest, ‘The Round Mound of Rebound’ had quite the claim for his former teammate. Speaking of him, Barkley jokingly stabbed him in the back, saying, “Phil Mickelson talks a lot of trash.”

But before he got deep into this subject, Charles was first asked about various different topics. Revealing his many opinions during a segment hosted by Golf Digest. Barkley was questioned about lighthearted matters first. For instance, he was asked about which sport would he have played if not basketball. To which he said tennis and golf.

Continuing to be questioned, Charles was then asked who he thought was the biggest trash talker on the course, to which he replied. “Nobody talks more trash than Michael Jordan or my friend Roy Green. Tiger talked a lot of trash too. Phil Mickelson talks a lot of trash.”

Charles Barkley protects Phil Mickelson from PGA’s Whines

In PGA’s recent tie-up with Saudi Arabia-backed LIV golf, not many would have been happy with the news involving Chuck. The NBA legend was always in favor of LIV, as he felt the players deserved to be paid more. With his wishes coming true, there was a time when Charles had to intervene after good friend Phil Mickelson had decided to join LIV.

Before their merger, PGA fans and players voiced their discontent with LIV which Barkley termed as “whinny. Continuing to protect Tiger Woods’s greatest adversary, he stated. “I wanted to say something to the PGA Tour, they’re just being whiny, the shots they are taking at LIV guys.”

Protecting his friend Phil Mickelson, Barkley further stated. “Phil Mickelson has been the second greatest thing in golf the last 30 years after Tiger Woods.”
