Shaquille O’Neal has a heart of gold that shines the brightest! The Big Diesel has always gone above and beyond to extend his help to those who need it. Remember what Shaq did when he heard about the five-year-old Syrai Sanders, who survived a brutal dog attack? He met the boy as well as his family. And for the six-year-old Logan Braatz, who didn’t survive the attack, O’Neal met his family and bought some furniture for them. So, when he learned about AJ Martinez, Superman made a special gesture for another true Superman!

AJ Martinez is (as per CNN) a survivor of the Uvalde tragedy. Back in 2022, a gunman caused havoc, shooting several people at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Nineteen students and two teachers reportedly passed away during the incident. AJ is one of the survivors. When Shaq found out about the boy and how he was a fan of him, the champ did his research and made a special tribute video for AJ.

“Hey, AJ, what’s happening, partner? This is Shaq. I just want to say happy birthday. 12, 13, 14, 15, whatever it is, I hope it’s a happy birthday, brother. Wish you all in Texas a drop down to Uvalde to see it. We actually played Uvalde in high school way, way, way before you was born. But anyway, brother, happy birthday. Okay, all right? You hang in there, brother, okay? You guys are going to be just fine,” O’Neal said in the video.

The Lakers legend made the video for Martinez’s 12th birthday. A Facebook user by the name of Kass Nicole, who is likely AJ’s mother, Kassandra Martinez, shared the clip on her social handle and expressed gratitude for it. “The ending got me because he tells AJ to “hang in there because everything will be just fine” for AJ to hear and see this video made him see that there are people out there especially famous people who would do anything to see a smile come back and it did for him still does till this very day!! Thank you to Shaq for doing this!!” she wrote.

Shaquille O’Neal shared heartwarming words to inspire fan’s mother

Back at the 2024 Adobe Summit Bash, he was approached by a fan, Hayden Butler. After the event, Butler requested the Big Aristotle to make a special clip for his mother, who is suffering from cancer. The 4x NBA champion quickly agreed and shared some warm words to motivate the brave lady.

We know you’re doing something right now. Make sure you listen to your doctors. Take that medicine and drink water. We love you, mama. We need you. Don’t give up,” he said. The fan, too, shared the clip on his social media and appreciated Shaq for having such a larger-than-life personality. No doubt, he has a heart as big as his towering stature.

In another instance, Shaq was seen exchanging a heartwarming interaction with a young fan. A young Isiah Thomas sneaked up and hugged him from behind at an event. Before the champ could look back, the child was taken away by the security. However, as soon as the Lakers legend noticed the kid, he called him back and even posed for a picture. These little efforts by Shaquille O’Neal make a positive difference in the lives of people around him.
