In 2020, the Miami Heat finally retired Wade’s jersey. However, this didn’t deter Wade’s fans from getting their favorite legend’s jersey, number #3. Interestingly, the son of Disney CEO Bob Iger was an avid fan of Wade’s jersey. And, this is something confirmed by the father himself.

In a recent episode on Dwyane Wade’s YouTube channel, Bob Iger sat down to share his insights about retirement. During the conversation, he recalled a particular game where his son wore Wade’s jersey no. #3. He said, “Over the years, my son, who was six at the time, was eight, and a big basketball fan. He ended up playing basketball in high school and has always rooted for winning teams.” said Iger, offering a background about the story he was about to unfold.

Moving on, he recounted, “But he decided to go to the game wearing a Dwyane Wade uniform or jersey, flying from LA to Dallas. He’s wearing number three, that Miami Heat jersey.” However, there’s a twist to this tale as Iger didn’t initially want his son to wear the uniform. But, why did Iger say something like that?

We find out, we were sitting courtside, so we get there, and he’s in Dallas where there were a few Dallas fans and few Miami fans at courtside. And he’s getting harassed, he’s getting harassed by the Dallas fans.” Expressing his disapproval over his son wearing the Miami Heat jersey while sitting courtside in Dallas, Iger continues, “Son, we are going to Dallas, you’ve got to be respectful.”

Despite having the Dallas Mascot coming over to the side of the son and pointing its finger at him, fate had different plans. Something unexpected happened later as the team won the game. At this moment happiness filled in the air and everything seemed to be falling into place for little Iger.
