There’s never a moment of peace among Los Angeles Lakers fans. After the Lakers’ disappointing Game 2 loss, distressed fans have once again demanded the team to replace head coach Darvin Ham. It seems the netizens haven’t had a change of mind after the Lakers’ 129-109 loss against the New Orleans Pelicans. The defeat handed by the Nuggets has only refueled it. This time, the netizens even have the most perfect candidate to replace Ham.
Several fans claimed that the Lakers could not present a great performance after winning the NBA In-Season Tournament. After a disappointing performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves in December 2023, netizens expressed their anger on social media as they demanded the Lakers to fire Ham. Now again after witnessing former NBA player and coach Mark Jackson’s motivating speech and guidance, numerous flocked to claim that they have found Ham’s replacement. Some even think Jackson’s advice was directed to Ham.
Numerous suggested the Lakers should hire Jackson as their head coach. One of them wrote, “Hire this man Lakers!”

While the Lakers’ decision on it is questionable, there is also a reason behind the frustration.
Darvin Ham felt helpless ahead of Lakers’ Game 2 loss

The Lakers had a strong start in Game 2. Despite having a 20-point lead, the Lakers failed to maintain consistency and lost against the Nuggets. Fans were already frustrated enough after the Game 1 loss and perhaps it was Ham’s speech ahead of the Game 2 that triggered them. During the pre-game press conference, Ham expressed how the Denver Nuggets Big Man, Nikola Jokic is skilled and tough to battle against. After a monologue describing his skills, Ham concluded, “Taller (Nikola Jokic) than everybody, wingspan, skill set… Sh*t, I don’t know what to do.”
However, he also hyped up his team to give their best. But a few mistakes completely changed the game and the defending champion won. Many including Shanon Sharpe criticized LeBron James‘ failure to get the three-pointer with just a few seconds left in the game. Shaquille O’Neal, who still has faith in his former team also expressed his frustration on the loss. However, like many of us, he is waiting to see how the Lakers tackle the game. Fans are rooting for the Lakers to change the course in Game 3. Will history repeat this time too? What is your take on this? Let us know in the comments section below.
