Tony Parker’s advice to Victor Wembanyama before his big break

At 7-foot-4, Wembanyama was already a force to reckon with even before his NBA debut. Wembanyama spent the 2021 season with ASVEL Basket, which Parker was president of. Tony Parker spoke to Insider before Wemby’s debut in the NBA. My advice to him is to make sure that he has his own expectations,” Parker said. “Because it’s impossible to please everybody. Everybody’s gonna think like, ‘Oh, you should play like this,’ or, ‘You should be Kevin Durant,’ or, ‘You should be this, you should be that.’ Just be you and have your own expectations.

I’m just always worried now because people (are) putting him so high, you know? … Like, I know he says he’s ready and, ‘I’m ready to take on everything.’ But people, when they put you so high like this and comparing him to LeBron and Michael Jordan, it’s almost unfair, you know?
