It felt like something out of a dystopian movie for Verizon and its customers. A sea of complaints and frustration peaked as many woke up to find their phones stuck in SOS mode. Among the affected was Carmelo Anthony‘s ex-wife, La La Anthony, who was visibly frustrated. Unable to carry on with her usual work, Anthony called out the company on social media.

Whether she used an Android or an iPhone, the actress was still affected by the Verizon outage. Wi-Fi services were also affected, leaving the users frustrated. Much time after the outage, La La shared a photo of herself taking a nap, tucked in a blanket on her Instagram.

She captioned it, “Verizon had my whole day in a chokehold!!” along with many angry face emojis. Her frustration was evident. And understandably so, for the all people, given the chaos, that looked like a digital ghost town.

It seems the outage has been restored now that she is back to posting on social media. However, like many others, she appeared to be quite disappointed.

Many users couldn’t even make basic calls. The word chaos is perhaps not capable enough to explain what was happening behind closed doors in the Company’s building. Earlier, on the morning of September 30, 2024, a nationwide network disruption hit Verizon phones. It was the highest around 10 am. As per Downdetector, nearly 104,932 users were affected by the outage.

Is Verizon working on the issue?

While sensitive to the inconvenience, the company addressed every concern that the people had. “Verizon engineers are making progress on our network issue and service has started to be restored.” It furthermore stated, “We know how much people rely on Verizon and apologize for any inconvenience some of our customers experienced today. We continue to work around the clock to fully resolve this issue.”

The United States Federal Communications Commission also reacted to the instance and stated they were working to determine the cause of the outage. Fox 13 reported parent-student pick-up, businesses, and contact with family members, were a few experiences people faced problems with. While La La Anthony’s is not known, she sure looked relieved in the post she shared.

It was only around 6:15 PM when the connection began to be restored. Many people expressed relief at being able to make calls again. Some netizens debated whether the company would offer any discounts due to the outage. Unfortunately, there is no policy in place at the company that provides discounts during such service disruptions.
