Iman Shumpert may have hung up his NBA jersey, but he’s never out of the camera. Known for his charisma both on and off the court, Shumpert has transitioned into acting with one of his standout roles being on The Chi, where he’s brought swagger and depth to the character of Rob Lafayette. Rob entered The Chi in Season 4 as Tiffany’s smooth, business-minded partner. Their shared venture into the recreational med-world was a sparked chemistry that made waves, especially considering Tiffany’s lingering history with Emmett. But Rob’s story quickly got more layered. As Season 7 approaches, fans are eager to know: will Rob return — and if so, how will his dynamic with Tiffany evolve amidst the chaos?

Beyond the love triangle drama, he found himself entangled in neighborhood tensions and a rocky relationship with his powerful mother, Alicia. Frankly, Iman Shumpert brought that quiet confidence to the role, making Rob stand out without even trying too hard. However, Rob’s story took a dark turn in Season 6 as he ended up getting killed by Nuck, a character played by Cortez Smith. That exit was shocking and brutal. So is he making a miracle comeback?

There is also some resurfacing tension amongst the viewers whether Iman Shumpert will return this season. Especially after La La Anthony announced her grand return with an Instagram post. However, there haven’t been any official claims from the makers of the show or Iman Shumpert as of now. So, we can predict that he is not returning for the 7th season of The Chi. But who knows what the future holds for him? Looking at so many fans eager to know about his return, maybe the makers will take a hint, and Rob will rise from the dead.

However, until then, we still have plenty of Iman Shumpert to watch in other roles. He has had some solid acting credits lately. Like his chilling performance as Corey in Amazon’s Them (2024). Or his dramatic role in Under His Influence (2023). BET’s Twenties fans still remember him as Quintrell. And if you are into his off-screen vibe, his reality shows Teyana & Iman and We Got Love Teyana & Iman are superb options. Sure, we might miss him as Rob on The Chi, but he’s not disappearing from the scene anytime soon. So, for now, we can also stick to enjoying La La Anthony’s return.

La La Anthony has been active lately. She co-hosted Vogue’s 2025 Met Gala red carpet livestream for the fourth consecutive year. And of course, her upcoming comedy series Group Chat with Kim Kardashian, inspired by her 2014 book The Love Playbook. So her return to The Chi was sort of predicted and inevitable. And here she is, back as everyone’s favorite Dom, to do her thing on screen like she never left.

La La Anthony back in her ‘old self’ in Season 7

La La Anthony first showed up in The Chi back in Season 3 as Dom. She was a talented chef with big dreams and a killer underground kitchen. She had hustle, and that’s how she caught Emmett’s attention. They got into a business partnership and turned Sonny’s Chicken Pit into Smokey’s BBQ. And her no-nonsense attitude made her a fan favorite. But things started getting messy when she and Emmett briefly hooked up. Even teamed up with his fiancée, Tiffany, on a recreational med edibles business later on.

But Dom’s love life got even more complicated when she started dating Emmett’s dad, Darnell. That added some serious drama to the mix. Still, despite all her storylines, Dom’s exit from the show was pretty low-key. No big goodbye, just kinda faded out, leaving room for her to maybe come back someday. Even the fans never stopped talking about her.

And so, to serve them more with that acting, not Iman Shumpert, but La La Anthony is back. She is reconnecting with her cousin Serena at Smokey’s BBQ, and her return feels like more than just a cameo. The show hasn’t spilled much, but you know Dom won’t just sit on the sidelines. She’ll probably shake up the neighborhood’s power struggles. With La La Anthony’s career blowing up and fans still loving Dom, it makes sense that her role would grow this season. She has always been one of those characters who leave a mark. And now she has got the chance to remind everyone why she’s one of the South Side’s realest. No matter what happens next, you can bet Dom won’t hold back.
