Even after getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs to the Denver Nuggets, the Los Angeles Lakers have managed to garner attention with their head coaching vacancy and possible off-season moves. Star teams like the Lakers are constantly under the fans’ radar. This has been the case almost every season. However, a former Denver Nuggets coach is not liking the attention on the LA unit, after their postseason run came to a quick end. To make his case, he even added the Lakers-NFL equivalent Dallas Cowboys in the conversation.

Coach George Karl has been active on social media over the last few months where most of his tweets are targeted towards the Lakers. In yet another episode of it, he wrote on X, Tired of constant media takes on the Cowboys and Lakers. Both organizations are barely relevant.”

Jerry Jones’s Dallas Cowboys are one of the highly marketed teams of the NFL. They constantly receive attention from the fans like Shaquille O’Neal, even if they have a disappointing season. Shaq has endorsed the team on every occasion possible and even gets cocky when they win. The Cowboys finished 1st in the NFC East last season and lost in the Wild Card Round to the Green Bay Packers. This is something similar to the Lakers’ 23-24 run.

Karl also added, They get so much coverage because they are highly valued with large fan bases. Not because they are championship-contending teams!!This did not hold true among the fans, for both teams have consistently made the playoffs of late.

The 2013 Coach of the Year did not hesitate one bit. However, he did not stop with this. He also went on to add another bold claim about LeBron James and Jeanie Buss’ Lakers.

Coach Karl gets real with the netizens on X to throw shade at the Lakers

Many on X did not agree with what Karl tweeted. Some commented that the Lakers are still relevant and is a championship-contending team. Anyhow, Karl put those talks to sleep once again. A fan commented, Lakers are always relevant, always have a superstar, and have won more times than the Nuggets and you in your lifetime lol. The coach holds 1,175 wins career wins across 22 years with a 423–257 record coaching Nuggets. Away from his notable run, Karl replied, They’re not now and don’t have one now“, leaving LeBron James and Anthony Davis out of the superstar talks.

He also shared a separate tweet later which said, LeBron isn’t a superstar anymore and AD will never be one“. Further advising the franchise to opt someone that could keep on the team for longer than two seasons.

At this point, it’s safe to say that Karl’s view of the Lakers isn’t a shining one. The 72-year-old has targeted the LA unit for quite a few months now. Anyhow, his take about the constant media attention on the Lakers is true. Their hunt for the next head coach, added on by Bronny James’ draft pick speculation is all the talk on the internet. And the anticipated offseason moves aren’t going to hush it down anytime soon.
