“Jordan At The Craps Table”: Overwhelmed By Cigar Situation, Legendary Rapper Recalled Iconic Michael Jordan Photograph

Fans are well aware of Michael Jordan’s love for cigars. The cigar aficionado has never been shy about his preferences. But we got a closer look still at Jordan’s fascination with cigars in ‘The Last Dance’ series.  It featured moments or scenes where Jordan is seen enjoying cigars, offering more insights into indulgence and showcasing how it became a part of his public persona. Quite hilariously and strangely, a renowned rapper recalled one such iconic moment of the Chicago Bulls legend from the show. 

Recently, revered hip-hop artist Jadakiss sat with NBA legend Carmelo Anthony for a captivating conversation on the show, 7 PM in Brooklyn. During the conversation, the rapper recounted one of his experiences from a past Puerto Rico trip.

The New York legends discussed a specific Jordan retreat in the Latin American country. “They killed me,” started Jadakiss. As the legendary rapper recalled, he and Tech N9ne joined the athletes’ trip to support Melo, even performing a set for the Jordan brand’s stars (including NBA players like Mike Bibby). However, during the ensuing celebrations is when Jadakiss was reminded of a special Michael Jordan trait.

He revealed how he wasn’t able to handle some special and expensive Cuban cigars that were handed to him in Puerto Rico. “It was like Kimbo Slice punched me in the head,” exclaimed the rapper. He explained how it reminded him of one of Jordan’s iconic photographs, where he held a cigar in one hand and a baseball in the other. Jadakiss explained, “They gave me a $30,000 S**t to kill me…They gave me the Jordan 6 rings.

Jordan at the craps table,” Kid Mero added. Speaking of that one scene from the Last Dance series, Jadakiss said,  “They gave me that when he (Michael Jordan) had the bat.” Fans certainly remember this scene from the series. The picture of MJ sitting in the locker room, gripping a baseball bat with confidence and a cigar casually perched in his mouth. 

The ‘The Last Dance’ series is among sports documentaries’ finest masterpieces. Viewers were transported right into the heart of the action, reliving the intensity and drama that defined an era of basketball greatness.

But Jordan’s greatness was different from that of other star athletes. While some would worry about how smoking would affect their conditioning, His Airness knew just how unstoppable he was. Were you aware that Michael Jordan had a pre-game ritual of smoking cigars before every match?

In a conversation with Cigar Aficionado, Michael Jordan admitted to smoking six cigars daily. Some argued that this habit was to get better focus on the game, while others believed it was a gesture, signifying confidence in the upcoming victory. In 2013, during an interview on “The Dan Patrick Show,” 5x NBA All-Star, Chris Webber shared a captivating story.

He recounted the impact of witnessing Jordan casually enjoying a cigar in his Ferrari before Game 3 of their first-round matchup in 1997. According to Webber, the sight of Jordan smoking a cigar scared the opposing players.

Chris Webber said, “You got Michael Jordan there behind the scenes smoking a cigar before the game, letting us know that he’s the Red Auerbach before the game even started. It was almost like, ‘I lit the cigar. I’m celebrating already. This is just a formality, you guys getting on the court tonight’.”
