A month ago, NBC announced that Dwyane Wade and LaChina Robinson would call the U.S. men’s and women’s basketball games, respectively. This marks Wade’s second stint as a commentator as he prepares to gear up for his Olympic journey alongside the play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle. “It will be an honor to witness their journey in person and share this special experience with viewers while we unite to celebrate their pursuit of the gold.” With NBC having the media rights to the NBA games from the 2025 season, Wade could potentially be back for commentating.

Wade has 2 Olympic medals to his name, a bronze in 2004 for Team USA. For the 2008 Olympics, he was part of the Redeem Team and ended up bagging the Gold medal. So, the pressure of the Olympics is not new for D-Wade as, a few hours ago, he posted on his Instagram about being ready for the game alongside Eagle. He wrote. “It’s about time!!!!”

Earlier, Wade had claimed that he was going to bring in some “real color” about the player’s mindset. It looks like the Miami Heat legend has impressed the fans with his game-calling Olympic debut in the France vs Brazil game. Wade’s former Marquette coach on X, expressed excitement at seeing Wade back in the commentary booth after his last stint with TNT, which reminded him of the Heat’s legendary playing days.

But before the start of the games, Wade became a victim of Paris’ cost-cutting. The Flash was searching for a fan since the AC in his room was not working. However, it hasn’t stopped Wade in terms of his performance as a commentator, as more fans show appreciation.

Fans ushering to celebrate Dwyane Wade

With his first stint as an Olympic commentator, maybe a fan did not expect Wade to be in the commentary booth. “Bout to watch Brazil and France play hood. They got Dwayne Wade commentating too. Thats new lol.” Working with TNT from 2019 to 22, definitely helped Dwyane Wade gain some meaningful experience. His prior experience and upgraded skills have helped him garner appreciation now. Another fan wrote, “Dwayne Wade is quite good at this.”

During one of the plays, French phenom Wembanyama gave tough competition to the Brazil defense. Commentating on the play, Eagle asked if Wade had seen anything like this before. The quick-witted Wade recalled the movie Space Jam for this unheard-of athleticism. “dwayne wade said victor wembanyama is a monstar from space jam 😭 #Olympics”

He also revealed a few weeks ago that his commentary pattern would be different from others. Taking an approach to not criticize players, he would look to describe the atmosphere to connect more fans to the game. “Dwayne Wade speaking on France v Brazil: ‘You might want to get a ticket…you might wanna feel this energy‘”

The Athletic Sr. Writer, covering sports media, Andrew Marchand, also posted the question a few months ago, asking if Wade would return to the NBA as a commentator. At the time, the deal with NBC was not finalized, but now with the deal done, a fan expressed the same sentiment. “would not hate Noah Eagle and Dwyane Wade calling NBA games for NBC when it’s time.”

The 3x NBA champion has multiple roles under his belt. From Wade Basketball Academy to being in an executive producer role with The Barber of Little Rock or his ownership role with NBA and WNBA teams, Utah Jazz, and Chicago Sky, respectively. The last time Dwyane Wade stepped away from commentating was because he wanted to pursue multiple business opportunities. And with those opportunities somewhat settled, is it time for Wade to make an emphatic return?
