When can we see LeBron James as an NBA team owner? King James has openly discussed his wish to join the NBA ownership group. And Vegas seems to be the city under the radar. In 2022, the veteran also discussed his interest in bringing an NBA team to the city. Now, 2x NBA All-Star Isiah Thomas has also backed him up.

Thomas shared a fresh proposal to the league to include Vegas and bring the Seattle Sonics back. He understood that an expansion such as this would require a few changes in the current scenario and suggested that Memphis and New Orleans be moved to the Eastern Conference Finals. “Bring Sonics back, add Vegas. Move Memphis and New Orleans to Eastern Conference!” Thomas wrote.

With numerous fans and experts sharing their views on the veteran’s interesting proposal format, ESPN also reshared the post to further the intrigue.

Thomas, who was born in Tacoma Washington, has often shown interest in Seattle SuperSonics revival. He has also previously expressed that if the team were to ever come back, he would like to be a part of the team. “No way around it. Gotta be a part of it,” he had iterated on X last year.

Now with multiple names interested in the expansion, could their hopes come to fruition soon?

Is there any hope for LeBron James to see his NBA ownership?

Both King James and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver have made their thoughts quite clear. While there’s no confirmed news as of now, the league is looking for a two-team expansion as per Silver. During the Finals last year when Shaq had asked if one could soon expect Seattle and Vegas teams, “It is a possibility,” Silver had replied. He explained that the league was awaiting collective bargaining agreement and media rights negotiating and once the boxes were ticked, they would turn towards expansion.

Prior to that, after a preseason game at the T-Mobile arena in Vegas, the 4x NBA champion said, “I would love to bring a team here at some point, that would be amazing. I want a team here Adam, thank you.” Shaquille O’Neal has also expressed his interest in owning a franchise in the NBA.

However, there seems to be one trouble. James’ partner, John Henry of the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) expressed that the company currently isn’t interested in expansion. In a report by Mirror, Mr. Henry shared the group is occupied with other pursuits when asked about King James’ interests. “There will be other opportunities, I’m sure, that we’ll look at, but we are fully engaged. We’re not out there, and I think we’ve never seen out there, looking for opportunities,” Henry said.

But with no discussions risen as of yet, so LeBron might find a window. For now, the 39-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, becoming the first father ever to play alongside his son on the same team. How things pan out for James regarding NBA expansion remains to be seen.
