Anyone would agree that Kevin Durant is one of the best scorers that the league has ever seen. But when the conversation comes to being a legend like Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant, fans split into two sides, most of them against KD. After years of debate online, the Phoenix Suns superstar decided to set things straight in an interview for his company, ‘The Boardroom’. Durant believes he has proved himself in some of the toughest situations, like the aforementioned legends.

The 2x champion shared, I feel like I’ve accomplished things on a court and been in situations the greatest have seen. So I feel like I can have a conversation about basketball with Michael Jordan, or Kobe Bryant, or LeBron James, not about bragging how much we have done, but like what did you see out there, and did I see the same things? I feel like I can have those conversations with the greatest ever played.” Well, hopefully, this can put an end to all the debates. Or is it going to grow more?

With that on one side, Durant doesn’t understand the relevance behind the GOAT list. The 2014 MVP thinks it is subjective and it can be anyone. He pulled out names such as Paul George and Tracy McGrady, who do not have a lot of accolades but are some influential role models for many. KD basically questioned the eligibility of the conversation. Well, he has done this on Twitter as well. In fact, he has been doing it for years now, replying to unknown users and fans on the app.

For the modern fans, accolades alone are not enough. KD has won every single award in his basketball career, which also includes an Olympic gold medal. But they won’t add him to the list of greatness for his controversial decision to join the Golden State Warriors. Despite winning two huge championships there, fans have always discredited him for joining a stacked team.

Fans would often ask KD to win a championship outside the Warriors to put him on the GOAT list. KD replied, “Why shouldn’t I be in that? That’s the question you should ask. Why not? What haven’t I done?” He made it to the conference semi-finals with an injured Brooklyn Nets, and the conference semi-finals in his first season with the Phoenix Suns. Well, the Phoenix are looking great with new additions this season.
