It seems the ray of hope for the Phoenix Suns is not bright enough. After losing to the Milwaukee Bucks 129-140. Bucks were playing without their star man Giannis Antetokounmpo. This marks the Suns’ recent record to 5-5, which doesn’t inspire confidence. Kevin Durant finished the night with 11 points and 4 assists.

Lou Williams, after seeing the Suns’ performance doesn’t rate them highly. During the recent episode of the RunItBack NBA show, Williams didn’t rate the Suns’ chances of making it to playoffs. “And, and I’ll just say it, man, with, with 14 or 15 games left. I just hadn’t seen the consistency and dominance that I would have liked to see from the Phoenix Suns so far”.

He continues, ” The Dallas Mavericks are playing hard. I think they’re a little short-handed with, with the talent that they have outside of, you know, their superstar guys. But they’re making do with what they, what they have and group that they do have. I feel like, um, Phoenix has, has, um, under, um, underperformed. That’s if that’s a way of saying it without, you know, getting anybody a little riled up and upset. I just hadn’t seen the consistency there with, with how they played with their injuries and everything they’ve dealt with. So, you know, I like Sacramento in their last.”

Can Kevin Durant’s Suns’ successfully rise for the business end of the season

The only way for Suns to improve is to assess the situation week by week. On paper, Week 22 seems the easiest one left on their schedule. Offensively the Suns are still potent. The contribution from Beal, Booker, and Durant is close to 100 points. Defensively they are conceding 120 points, in the last 4 out of their 5 games, they have conceded 118 points minimum.

Some part of the key component is missing in the Suns team. There are days when Durant can single-handedly win you the games. But what about other times? There seems a disconnect as some days the team plays well and other days worse than the average.

The good news is they have signed Isaiah Thomas for the 10-day contract which hopefully will fill in the big defensive gap. If Suns continue to perform poorly, they will have to fight for the spot via Play in competition.
