KG’s work ethic made several people fall in love with him. Not just former teammates or rivals, but even the greats of the game admired him. “I always said you’re my favorite player to watch. You never disappoint. It’s real, and you never disappoint.” Bill Rusell, Celtics legend, once appreciated Kevin Garnett for his determination. Another Celtics player recently credited The Big Ticket for his mentorship, and KG made sure to send the love back.

KEYONNN 🫡REAL ONE…Great person n Friend…one of my fav teammates 🤝💯.” The former MVP added to his Instagram story, “Shoutout to my dog@keyondooling.” Keyon Dooling only shared the locker room with KG during one season with the Celtics in 2011-12. He would only start 2 regular season games that season, as he was a backup guard. But that did not change his perspective about the time spent with the Beantown.

It was my favorite experience in basketball was playing with the Celtics.” Last month on All the Smoke podcast, the 13-year-veteran described in detail Kevin Garnett’s influence.

KG, I wish I would have got to play with him earlier, because like he unlocked something in you like nobody else, man. He was a sensei, you know what I mean. As far as giving himself to the game, he did the same thing the same way the same time, every game, every practice.”

Dooling even called KG a “perfectionist,” as his routine wouldn’t change. It also involved watching the classic Family Guy before the game. Even Keven Garnett admitted to watching the hit series. “It all revolved around Family Guy at 6:00, having my peanut butter and jellies, and getting my ankles taped.”

Kevin Garnett’s cameo on his favorite show

As we all know, KG appeared in the 2019 movie Uncut Gems, which featured important roles for Adam Sandler, LaKeith Stanfield, and Julia Fox. The former Celtics star got the role after it was written for Kobe Bryant. However, the Lakers legend’s agent said Kobe was only interested in directing.

Ultimately, Kevin Garnett played a fictionalized version of himself. But 10 years prior to that, KG was part of a TV show, that he had watched religiously. As per Sports Media Watch, Garnett would “guest-voices when Peter and the guys interview potential friends to fill the vacancy left by Cleveland. However, things don’t look so good for Garnett when it’s discovered that Quagmire hates him.”

So, KG’s love for Family Guy and basketball had no competition. Former teammate Keyon Dooling understood after spending just one season with the Celtics. And hinted and spending more time with Kevin Garnett to learn more about the game.
