Kevin Garnett built his legacy on fire and ferocity. A 15-time NBA All-Star, a league MVP, and a Defensive Player of the Year—he played every minute like it was his last. Yet while that passion forged a Celtics legend, that same intensity appears to have followed him off‑court. Recently, the Big Ticket found himself in a rough patch—only this time, it wasn’t under the arena lights.

To explain, a domestic dispute erupted involving Garnett at his Los Angeles home. The incident took a serious turn on April 27 when his girlfriend, Teare Candelier, called the cops. The couple later addressed the issue in a joint statement, which hinted that they may have regretted how things escalated that night.

According to TMZ, Candelier dialed 911 just before 2 a.m.”. According to law enforcement sources, the argument had “escalated” by the time she reached out. By the time police arrived, Garnett was already gone. Candelier didn’t need any medical help, and a report was taken on the scene.

Surprisingly, the tone between them has since softened. Garnett just turned 49, and instead of silence, his girlfriend sent out a public message of affection. She posted a sweet birthday shoutout on her Instagram Story, writing, “Happy birthday to my ❤🤞🏻🎂.” And yes—Garnett reshared it on his own IG Story too.

So even though the situation got serious enough to involve the authorities, both seem to be working through it. The couple may still be finding their footing, but from the looks of it, healing has started—and this time, it’s happening together.

Kevin Garnett and Teare Candelier regret calling the cops

Kevin Garnett and his girlfriend, Teare Candelier, found themselves in a tough moment when a heated argument at their Los Angeles home led to a police call in the early hours of April 27. A week later, the couple broke their silence with a joint statement, reflecting on the incident and the decision that followed.

“We deeply regret that a personal disagreement escalated and inappropriately involved authorities,” the two shared in a message dated May 4, via TMZ. “It was never our intention to involve others in a moment that should have remained private.”

They went on to add, “Like most couples, we have disagreements, but our commitment to each other remains strong, and we move forward with renewed respect, understanding, and love.”

Interestingly, reports confirmed that the altercation didn’t turn physical. In fact, the only physical contact mentioned involved Garnett moving Candelier out of the doorway while trying to remove himself from the situation. Beyond that, very little is out there about the length or nature of their relationship, as the couple keeps their private life mostly under wraps.

Still, the tone has shifted since then. Hopefully, they steer clear of another episode like that. And if their heartfelt statement wasn’t enough, Candelier’s recent birthday post to Garnett seems to say it all—love may have taken a hit, but it hasn’t gone anywhere.
