Kiyan Anthony wants to make a name for himself. The 17-year-old has been consistently delivering top-notch performances to prove that. He has received numerous college offers and made several visits, with one of the most interesting being his Syracuse offer. Sounds familiar? Kiyan’s father, Carmelo Anthony, led the Syracuse Orange to an NCAA championship in 2003. However, Kiyan believes that isn’t the reason for his offer.

In his conversation with ZagsVlog, Kiyan shared how, after a chat with the head coach of the team, Adrian Autry, he feels they are recruiting him for his skills and to rebuild a new team that can win a championship. He believes he can provide that if he joins the team.

“I like the family environment. The coaches, I feel like they’re recruiting me for myself, and not just because of my father. That’s what I like. I just feel like they’re rebuilding, and they’re looking to get a winning team. I feel like I can help them do that if I was to go there,” Kiyan said.

Back in October 2023, the NBA legend and Kiyan visited the university for a game. Kiyan further revealed that he has frequent calls with coaches Autry and Brenden Straughn. So, while there’s still a chance for Kiyan to opt for a different college, it can be said that Syracuse has a slight edge.

Massachusetts, Manhattan, Memphis, Michigan, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, and a few more also have approached the NBA legend’s son. The 6-foot-5 guard shared that he would reveal his top five or six college choices after Peach Jam and announce his final decision before his senior season.

Until then, the 17-year-old will remain occupied torching his opponents while playing for his father’s team at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam. He averaged 38.5 points per game in the Top 100 camp and is currently averaging 23.5 points per game in the Peach Jam. The opportunities and applause he receives truly aren’t for the legendary legacy his father had but for the impressive strides he has made, such as his performance in the Nike EYBL in May and the NBPA Top 100 Camp.

Kiyan dropped 40 points to lead Team Melo to an 81-50 win over Mac Irvin. As the son of Carmelo Anthony, the 17-year-old constantly feels the pressure and expectations fans place on him. But he continues to make significant strides to build his own career.
