Kobe Bryant‘s iconic ‘Crazy 8′ is set to make a comeback. Adidas will pay homage to the Los Angeles Lakers legend by releasing a different version of the very shoes that he donned during his first-ever NBA All-Star Game appearance in 1998. The black/white colorway of these classic sneakers holds a special place in fans’ hearts as well as Bryant’s career. He made his first NBA All-Star game appearance in just his second year in the NBA. While this revival maintains the essence of the original, there’s a noteworthy twist. A new number “’98” embroidery, a reference to the 1998 version, adorns the new pair instead of 8. Just recently, an older version of the shoes was spotted this month. Adidas has previously rereleased numerous versions of Bryant’s retro sneakers. However, this has to be the most stylish and iconic of them.

The number 8 emblazoned on the shoe serves as an homage to the Los Angeles Lakers‘ legacy. A closer look at the design details shows a striking black and white pattern, reminiscent of iconic styles such as the Reebok Kamikaze II by Shawn Kemp and the Shaqnosis by Shaquille O’Neal.

While these patterns may diverge slightly from Bryant’s on-court previous and mainly the first ever sneakers, the new Crazy 8 version has managed to encapsulate the essence of those iconic pieces. What do you think about this release? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
