In 2015, Bowers had the honor of collaborating with the Los Angeles Lakers icon. He composed the music for the documentary, Muse. Thanks to the 5x NBA champion, the composer was able to forge a deeper connection with his music. Bryant helped him to get comfortable with his sphere of expertise. Bowers mentioned acquiring the habit of diligent study from Kobe.

Speaking of the time spent working with Bryant, Bowers told Variety, “He was the one who talked to me about writing music from a personal place, imagining the scenario that I see on screen, how it relates to my personal experience, and writing from that emotion, and connecting those two things.”

Watching the likes of Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson inspired him, and he worked day and night to reach that level. Even though he didn’t know whether he could ever reach that stage, all he could do was work hard and find out.

Part of it echoes in the composer’s latest projects. I feel like I got a lot of my experience working with Kobe so that by the time Bridgerton came around, I was like, ‘Oh, I feel pretty comfortable doing this.'”
