The Dallas Mavericks are breaking through all the hindrances that are being put in front of them. Kudos to Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, who have been the anchor of the ship. In a crucial game against the Sacramento Kings today, the dominant Mavericks duo faced a concerning injury scare. However, the Batman and the Robin played through it, to stay at the 6th seed, avoiding the play-in spot for some more time. After witnessing this determination from the two superstars, Kendrick Perkins has now made a bold claim on Twitter.
The former Boston Celtics center tweeted, “I’m almost convinced that Kyrie and Luka just might be the most dangerous duo in the League”, after the Mavericks defeated the Kings, 107-103. Irving dropped 30 points, and Doncic recorded a near triple-double with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists, to defeat the Kings back-to-back in three days.
In the second half of the game, Irving suddenly grabbed his right knee while walking back to the bench. Taking help from a staff, he slowly reached the sideline. However, after a few minutes, Irving returned to the game to drop 14 points in the 4th quarter with a 100% FG. This helped the Mavericks to extend their win streak to six, despite entering the 4th quarter trailing down 9 points. Doncic, on the other hand, had 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists in the last quarter, to seal the win. Well, now you why Perkins believes they are the best in business.

“No team wants to face that duo”: Perkins’s warning for the teams entering playoffs
The Mavericks are not the one to mess with in the postseason. Ever since acquiring Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington from the trade market, the Dallas unit has improved a lot on the defensive end. Although they are yet to secure a playoff spot, Perkins already has a warning for the teams entering the postseason. The 2008 champion said, “When I look at the Western Conference, no team wants to face that duo of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic ’cause both of those guys are capable of having an explosive offensive night,”

With a lethal duo of Irving and Doncic, the above defensive additions have given them an upper hand lately. Perkins also added, “If you look at what Luka has been doing, and what Kyrie has been doing, one can argue that they have been the most lethal offensive duo.” Perkins also credited coach Jason Kidd for the fantastic rotations he has made in the season so far. All the departments look bright for the Mavericks. So, is a championship a dream come true for them?
