Thankfully, Kiyan is safe, and the injury was determined to be minor. He suffered bruising to his tailbone, hamstring, and lower back. LuHi coach John Buck confirmed it wasn’t serious, and the 17-year-old is expected to return to action after rest and treatment. Reflecting on the moment, Kiyan said, “Being in the air and realizing you don’t have your feet under you is always a scary feeling. I would say this is the worst it [has] happened.”

Both Kiyan and St. Joseph’s HC agreed that the entire incident was unintentional on the opposing player’s end. Speaking to Newsday, Coach Cooper Calzonetti  said, “When you’re in the air like that, it’s crazy. I know Nate didn’t mean to do anything.” Despite the little bit of pain“, LuHi managed to score 16 points in the game.
