ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst stirred the pot with his recent remark about Allen Iverson, leaving fans and experts alike in shock. The Philadelphia 76ers legend had an undeniable impact on the league. Regardless of the era, he would have been a dominant player. However, during an appearance on the First Take show, Windhorst made a controversial comment on how Iverson was an average player and wouldn’t have been able to dominate in this era. However, players from AI’s era are now chiming in with their takes, refuting Windhorst’s comments.

7x NBA champion Robert Horry jumped into the conversation to share his opinion. In his podcast, “The Big Shot Bob Podcast,” Horry detailed how the comment was outrageous and he should make a public apology for it. 

“Allen Iverson was a beast. It’s just sometimes when I listen to him I’m like who the f**k is giving him information what is he basing up on. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes he has some valid points but this point is so out of bounds that he need to, you know, do a public apology or something because it’s just bad,” said Horry. What was Windhorst’s comment that turned the basketball world upside down?

Windhorst had said, “He (Allen Iverson) would be way more heavily criticized about his style of play than he was then, because he was a low-efficiency player… If you go look at the way he played, he played a lot of minutes and just chucked a lot of shots. And if 41 percent of them went in, it was considered a good job. That would not fly in today’s game.”

Former Los Angeles Lakers star Horry isn’t the only one who has spoken out against the ESPN analyst. Numerous came in to support and back up the 11x NBA All-Star.

Many have argued that the comment was just meant for attention. While on the other hand, some suggested that the statement was baseless. Joining the fans, former New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony said, “They will always find a way to discredit.” All the Smoke podcast host Matt Barnes wasn’t impressed by the analyst’s take, either.

Criticizing Windhorst’s comment, he said, “Smh these hot takes for attention are getting ridiculous.” Brian’s comment came after Iverson claimed that he would easily be able to average 41 points per game in the current scenario of the NBA. Needless to say, the ESPN analyst’s response to his claims wasn’t taken well.
