We’re eight days into the New Year. So this is the time when a lot of people are committed to their New Year resolutions. NBA veteran Robert Horry has similar plans. His New Year resolution includes getting rid of a “bad tendency” that he has of not reaching out to people and talking on the phone.

He said that he is already on track with his resolution, and it is working out well so far. In fact, Horry’s realization and acting upon it came as a shock to his wife who rarely sees the NBA veteran taking the time to engage with people.

Robert Horry’s resolution will bring him closer to people

Horry said, “I have a bad tendency of not to talk on the telephone to people and I’ve been trying to reach out to people more. Just in a text or just say what’s up, just to let people know that I acknowledge them and I’m thinking about them.” The 7x NBA champion said that he has struggled with this for a very long time and his tendency often leads to him seeming distant from people, even his own parents and children.

He said, “I have a tendency to not do that[talk to people] even with my mom, my dad, my kids.” Horry feels that this is not how he should treat people in his life, especially those who are very dear to them. “This year I’m going to be more loving and attentive to my family and friends”, he said.

When the NBA veteran started on his New Year resolution, his wife found it strange in the beginning. Maybe Horry didn’t announce to anyone that he has come up with a resolution for himself and would try to change his habits.

He sheepishly admits, “My wife was laughing at me ’cause on New Year’s I was texting all these people. She was like “Who you texting?” oh this person.” Surprised to see this change, she asked, “You just called him?” Horry said, “I’m like yeah, and that’s my New Year’s resolution. Just to reach out to people. Especially those… you got those friends… oh, I ain’t talked to him in a while. I’ll call him later, and then three weeks pass by.”
