The struggling Memphis Grizzlies fell prey to injuries even after Ja Morant returned from his suspension. After the main roster got sidelined one after the other, they decided to make a few notable signings. One who has made a mark in the last few months is Scotty Pippen Jr, son of the famous Chicago Bulls icon and reality star Larsa Pippen. The RHOM star had been a pillar of support for Pippen Jr in this crucial breakout period. However, his talents will be put to the real test today, as the Grizzlies are facing one of the best in the west, which is the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Before this big match-up, Larsa Pippen decided to show her son some love. In the 9 games he has played this season, Scotty has averaged 10.3 points and 5.1 assists, with an efficient FG% of 47.8%. Even though he came off the bench initially, his promising numbers and the team’s injury helped him get the starting role.
Now, ahead of the OKC match-up, the Grizzlies endorsed the 23-year-old, which caught the attention of Larsa Pippen. She shared a post from the Grizzlies’ Instagram handle featuring Scotty and the rest of the team entering the arena and added, “My love,” sharing some motivation ahead of the big game. However, all of it went in vain

The Grizzlies were on a 7-game losing streak before the game today. The Thunder made sure they extended it. All the starters of OKC scored in double figures to give the Grizzlies a 6-point loss of 112-118. However, that wasn’t the saddest part for Larsa and Scotty.

How did the return of a 25-year-old guard affect Scotty Pippen Jr?
The Grizzlies lost all their best players to injuries, but a few have now started to return. Jaren Jackson Jr. was sidelined for a few days, but the elephant in the room was Desmond Bane’s 2-month absence. The 25-year-old guard had been out with a sprained ankle since January 12. However, he was cleared today to join the Grizzlies back. Sadly, that has taken a hit at Scotty Pippen Jr.’s starting role. Bane had 22 points and 7 assists on his return, while Scotty did not play.

In the upcoming games, the Grizzles will likely use Bane over Scotty for his excellent shooting and playmaking. With the team almost out of playoff contention, they might give Scotty a minimal role in the upcoming games. The Memphis unit has 14 games left this season. Do you think that Scottie Pippen’s son can retain his spot in the team next year too?
