Amin Elhassan knows now to stick to talking about basketball instead of playing it. ESPN’s top NBA insider is still feeling the embarrassing side effects of making a terrible jump shot on camera. While he was on Bully Ball with DeMarcus Cousins, he tried to downplay his horrible skills at the Athletes Unlimited Celebrity Hoops Classic by cheekily utilizing the ‘Michael Jordan has no left’ revolt. But not on Boogie’s watch.

To say that moment was not “representative of how I shoot,” he referred to the videos going around to allege that the ’90s NBA quality was a farce. “I’m not saying when they do the ‘we done with the ’90s’ videos though, look at Michael Jordan,” Elhassan stuttered his way through that sentence. “He can’t even shoot with his left hand.”
Since Elhassan went there, so did Boogie. “Just admit you was g*ng-b**ging.” Amin Elhassan tried to defend himself that he wouldn’t even joke about that. Cousins still teased him, “You definitely threw something alright.”

Elhassan is facing the “brutal” commentary he’s usually dishing to NBA players since he participated in the celebrity game in Dallas. During the pregame warmups, he displayed the most comical form with a twisty hand maneuver that saw his shot land several inches away from the rim. He provided the Internet with some much needed laughs. The best jokes even got the Amin badge of honor in the form of retweets.
Also he had a million excuses like the ball was too small and his pinky is crooked. Now he’s owning his mistake but by saying even Michael Jordan had a bad day.

Amin Elhassan’s chance at redemption
Rachel Nichols and DeMarcus Cousins graciously gave Elhassan a shot at redemption by letting him talk about basketball instead of play. Talk he did. He took a jab at the TikTokers revolting against the ’90s by taking the worst highlights of Jordan’s, Magic Johnson’s and Larry Bird’s careers to prove a point.

He said that even the greats mentioned in the trend know that these compilations are not representative of their careers. He said something similar to comedian and Jordan fan, Aries Spears, who called these selective TikTok compilations, “sports bloopers.”

Does that save Amin Elhassan’s pride? Not even the slightest. His lack of athleticism was seen on that short-lived attempt at American Ninja Warrior. No one will believe the NBA insider’s offbeat jumper was the same as one of Michael Jordan’s subpar days. Or does it salvage his reputation?
