Ever look back at your famous dad and uncle’s acting career to cringe at their silliness? Taahirah O’Neal did. She’s watching her dad’s acting debut from way back when and poking fun at him online. If you recall, Shaquille O’Neal shared the screen with an actor who would become a lifelong friend. And therefore, he’s subjected to the same ribbing from the O’Neal kids as the NBA legend.

Anthony C. Hall, also known as the honorary uncle of the O’Neal kids, has an impressive entertainment resume. Yet Shaq and his kids have made it their mission to remind him of his origins.

Kazam feels like yesterday but it was Blue Chips that birthed actor Shaq in 1994. Though a serious take on college basketball through Neon Bordeaux portrayed by NBA rookie Shaquille O’Neal, it had its comic moments. Particularly through Neon’s friendship with Tony, played by Anthony C. Hall. They’d become best friends and business associates that still last. Doesn’t make Hall immune to some ribbing, though.

Shaq’s eldest, Taahirah, was enjoying a little Blue Chip binge. The silly play fight Neon and Tony get into in the tunnel may have reminded her of their day-to-day antics. So she had to share that scene on Instagram with the line, “Look at my children,” tagging said overgrown children. Sounds like Shaq and Hall make her say this a lot.

She seems to be enjoying a watch party for Blue Chips. Her co-viewer @-ed her with the line, “Tony fight Dr Shaq fu!!” Taahirah responded with an, “Ok lol.” Their hilarious exchange went on for a while ribbing the athlete-actors.

Anthony Hall was a former basketball player who got his big break after getting scouted for commercials. After starring alongside Penny Hardaway and Shaq in Blue Chips, he’d switch to producing O’Neal’s shows like Shaq’s All-Star Comedy Jam. He counts Denzel Washington as his mentor too. Yet the O’Neal fam works hard to keep him grounded in Blue Chips.

Blue Chips is first place for Shaquille O’Neal

Anthony “Chicago” Hall has a history of working opposite Tupac Shakur from the 1997 cult classic, Gang-Related and even appeared in Sunset Park and Fortress. When he was basking in an impressive acting resume, O’Neal popped up in his Instagram page’s comments with, “Blue Chips was better.”

He also added a classic, “boooo” for Gang-Related. But Hall took it with grace saying,We’re best friends and sometimes he pops up to give me a hard time.”

One take at a time

I was 7 when I saw 'Space Jam' but didn't know till the third rewatch the lead actor is actually a living basketball legend. It was while studying journalism that my friend would go on about the Warriors from Golden State. Keen on athletes' personas outside their arenas, it was Stephen Curry's confidence and philanthropy that drew me to follow the news on NBA pros and explore sports media.
