Big Diesel became a bigger man when he got over his jealousy towards David Beckham. Shaquille O’Neal now calls him a best friend, business partner, and his “favorite” person. But some observers think there’s more to it. For one comedian, it’s fodder for some laughs. And his hilarious rant got Shaq’s approval before his 33 million Instagram followers.

Shaquille O’Neal just spent the weekend hosting the Club SI party for the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix with David Beckham. He was definitely not over the time he spent with the soccer star. It’s why Beckham’s biggest (quite literally) fan had to make it known on Instagram.

my favorite guy @davidbeckham,” Shaq captioned the “candid” picture of him and Beckham looking into each other’s eyes. O’Neal went from being jealous of Beckham’s superstar status to holding his wallet hostage and becoming each other’s favorite person.

Comedian, Shuler King, read between the lines, though. Based on Shaq’s post, he said O’Neal is “lookin’ mad uncomfortable” at the way Beckham is gazing at him. He’d say, “I don’t like the way y’all gazing at each other.” In fact, he wants this ‘bromance’ to be stifled. Even the caption of his reel is a simple plea. “@shaq and @davidbeckham stop this.

Instead of taking heed of King’s suggestion, Shaq has shared his Reel on his Instagram Stories. He’s basically implied that King is right about the awkward tension between him and Beckham. But that doesn’t make Beckham any less Shaq’s favorite guy.

At one point, King almost suggested these two should get a room and changed his mind. “Stop looking at each other. Don’t look at each other, no more.” Doesn’t look like this power couple is listening to King anytime soon.

Big Diesel creatively forged the David Beckham relationship

When Shaq first heard of David Beckham, he only knew the world’s then-highest-earning athlete. O’Neal never managed to reach that status but he reached Beckham’s wallet. The former Lakers star chanced upon Beckham’s wallet in Beverly Hills. Instead of returning it immediately, O’Neal attempted a prank. Mr Posh Spice didn’t fall for it and picked up the wallet from the big man.

Beckham is now the “cool guy” in Shaq’s books. Their business interests are combined through their stakes in Authentic Brands Group. Beckham and his son, Romeo, also joined the 51-year-old on his birthday vacation.

I was 7 when I saw 'Space Jam' but didn't know till the third rewatch the lead actor is actually a living basketball legend. It was while studying journalism that my friend would go on about the Warriors from Golden State. Keen on athletes' personas outside their arenas, it was Stephen Curry's confidence and philanthropy that drew me to follow the news on NBA pros and explore sports media.
