Is the Canada Basketball Team the biggest threat to Team USA? Canada’s performance in the FIBA World Cup in 2023 has changed a lot of things. The presence of some of the most talented and important NBA players on the roster brings in a lot of power. Former NBA player Evan Turner believes that there’s a good chance for Canada to beat Team USA again!

Reflecting on Team USA’s bitter loss against Canada last year, Turner said on Point Forward Podcast, Every 12 players now it’s like shoot, they have a team full of pros and you know, it’s, it’s a pretty impressive team that you can really know battle with coming out even Zack Edey.”

He further added, “Like it’s going to be like bro, it’s a lot of work out there and I’m just saying like it sound like Shay on you got a lot of psychos on that team that, that might be able to make something happen. You understand what I’m saying?”

He further added the roster has some of the most talented players such as Kelly Olynyk and Kyle Alexander and more. Other notable players on the roster are Nickeil Alexander-Walker, RJ Barrett, Jamal Murray, Dillon Brooks, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Some of these players were also on the FIBA roster last year that defeated Team USA 127-118 in Manila. In an OT thriller, SGA and Brooks combined 70 points to lead Canada to win its first-ever FIBA World Cup medal.

Most importantly, the roster indeed gives off the impression of one of the toughest teams. And once again Jordi Fernandez will coach the team for the Paris Olympics.

Team USA boasts a record of winning 5 FIBA World Cups. No wonder, last year’s defeat stunned the world. However, this time, the team has a wiser plan. For the Paris Olympics, a star-studded roster has been prepared to take on the challenge.

Phoenix Suns stars Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker are part of the roster. Durant has won gold medals in 2012, 2016 and 2020. While LeBron James will make his fourth appearance, Stephen Curry will make his debut this year.

Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum, Kawhi Leonard, Tyrese Haliburton, Jrue Holiday, and Bam Adebayo, are the other notable players on the roster. There are 12 NBA All-Stars and 6 NBA champions going into the Paris Olympics. Well, while the Canada Basketball Team indeed poses a big threat, Team USA seems all prepared for the action set to begin on July 26.
