Luka Doncic seemed to have reached his limit when he got a Phoenix Suns fan ejected from the game. The Dallas Mavericks‘ recent 132-109 loss against the Suns saw numerous tense moments. One of them was when the 4x All-Star lost his calm on a fan who yelled some disrespectful comments against him. However, many were not happy with such a gesture including some big names of the league. Former Phoenix Suns star Eddie A Johnson also shared his opinion on his X account to show his disapproval. In response to the incident in that game, Johnson requested players to avoid asking for the removal of fans.

He also mentioned how, in the past, players have faced even more challenging situations such as dealing with Leon the Barber. He was a dedicated fan of the Pistons and often threw verbal abuse at the opposing team players. However, he believed modern players were less forgiving of such hecklers. Johnson wrote, “Luka is not the only player removing fans. These rabbit ears by players is crazy. We dealt with Robin Ficker in Washington, Leon the Barber in Detroit and a host of fans in Philly and Utah and not once asked for their removal. Stop!@NBA”

Why did Luka Doncic kick out Suns fans?

As per the fans seated close to the midcourt press row, a particular taunt of the fan, “Luka, you’re tired! Get your a** on the treadmill!” attracted Doncic’s attention. However, during the post-game interview, Doncic stated the depiction of the incident by the reporters was not true.

According to the player, he had to involve the security, not solely triggered by the treadmill remark, but rather by continuous verbal abuse from the fan throughout the night. The frustration peaked during the third quarter when the Mavericks were already trailing behind the Phoenix Suns.

With Kyrie Irving missing the game because of an injury, Doncic had to carry the entire game on his shoulders. Respectful behavior on both the players’ and fans’ end is indeed necessary for the game. Do you agree with Johnson? Do tell us in the comments section below.
