According to Sports Entrepreneur and Investor Andrew Petcash, Luol Deng, who began his professional career at $2 million is today a hundred times richer. He broke down the smart investment choices by Luol to study the data. Apparently, his first signing with the Bulls bagged him a decent deal of $2.5 million/ year deal of four years.

However, he surely gave them a performance worth their money. As a part of the Chicago Bulls roster, Deng earned most of his accolades. This included two-times NBA All-Star (2012, 2013) and NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2012). After the completion of four years with the Bulls, Luol experimented with various other teams.

Fast forward to 2016, he finally settled in the LA Lakers locker room. However, while his contract of a whopping $72 million for four years made him the fourth-highest-paid Lakers player, he was waived in 2018. This was because he could not play to his potential and averaged only 7.5 points per game in 57 games for the Lakers. Nevertheless, he was still being paid increments of $5 million/ season by the Lakers front office.

Deng makes it to $200 million

In 2014, Deng made his first move in the investment market with his private fund company D3N9. Additionally, with D3N9, he also has his foot in real estate, including hotels, resorts, condos, and apartment buildings. Apart from his business ventures that put his gross net worth at $200 million, he also has a non-profit organization.
