The NBA has seen legends pass the torch, but never quite like this. Last year, LeBron James and Bronny made history as the first father-son duo to share the court. Now, as Bryce James sharpens his game, Lou Williams suggests LeBron might not be done yet. Could we witness an NBA first? A father playing with not one, but both of his sons?

Last year, the NBA world saw King James and his eldest son, Bronny, become the first father-son duo to share the court in an official game. The two shared the court during the Lakers’ season opener. On an episode of Run It Back, Lou Williams speculated that there is a chance that this historic feat might be repeated if LeBron’s younger son, Bryce, joins the NBA before his father retires.

“We made a big deal about Brunny. We got Bryce coming. Now when you playing at this level, this may buy you three, four years to possibly play with not only one of your sons, but the both of them,” Williams said. Given James’ elite performance even at 40, it wouldn’t be surprising if he extended his career for a few more years.

Even with 26-year-old player Luka Doncic on the Lakers roster, Williams didn’t hesitate to put James above all as he said, “LeBron James, who knows? He can ride off into the sunset as a guy who’s never averaged under 20 points, or he can ride into the wheels, fall off until he starts to see a decline. But it’s amazing what he’s doing at this age…I’ve said this, he’s been the best player on the Lakers this year. Even with Luka being in that lineup, it’s incredible.”

LeBron James has already shared the court with Bronny, creating an unforgettable moment. But what if history repeats itself? This time with Bryce? The possibility brings to mind another legendary father-son duo in sports. Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. They became the first father-son duo to play together in the MLB. Between 1990 and 1991, they played together in nearly 51 games.

Interestingly, the Griffeys were present at last year’s Los Angeles Lakers season opener to witness LeBron and Bronny’s historic debut.

Williams raises the question: Can James continue playing long enough for Bryce to join him in the league? As of now, Bryce has shown exceptional potential. And the latest is a standout performance in the recent state championship game.

Bryce impresses LeBron James at HS state championship game

Despite nursing a groin injury and missing the Lakers vs. Nuggets matchup, James was courtside for Sierra Canyon’s clash with Stockton Lincoln. Cheering on with wife, Savannah, for Bryce. His 17-year-old son made the most of the moment. Bryce delivered a solid performance with 3 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Bryce is the first James to win a state title. Will he join his father and brother in setting new records soon? King James first expressed his desire to play alongside his son when Bronny was in high school. After one collegiate season, James’ eldest son declared for the 2024 NBA Draft. But his underwhelming performance with the Trojans drew criticism, with many questioning his decision to enter the draft.

The Lakers selected Bronny as the 55th pick, and he has since shared the court with his father multiple times. Defeating the harsh criticism, Bronny has also made massive improvements in his game.

Imagine a future where LeBron James, having already defied age and expectations, shares the court not just with one son, but both. Bronny and Bryce. It’s a narrative that transcends basketball!
